Billy Graham in Stable Condition at NC Hospital

Evangelist Billy Graham is being treated for bronchitis at a hospital near his home in Asheville, N.C.

The hospital reports that the 93-year-old was admitted overnight for treatment of a pulmonary infection believed to be bronchitis.

“Upon admission, he was alert and in good spirits,” Mission Hospital said in a statement.

Graham is in stable condition and resting comfortably. Spokesman Larry Ross says the evangelist was having breakfast Monday morning and doing well. Graham watched his grandson, Will Graham, preach Sunday morning on a television feed and he watched the closing ceremony of the London Olympics Sunday night. Nurses said he had a restful night.

Graham was hospitalized last November for pneumonia. The evangelist’s staff says his health has been good since his release, though he has continued to remain at his home in Montreat, N.C., due to “age-related conditions.”

The hospital said Graham “remains actively involved in ministry and writing projects,” including a new book that summarizes the gospel message over the past 70 years of his ministry.

It is not clear how soon Graham will be released from the hospital.
