Why You Can’t Always Stay on the Mountain With God

Enjoy your moment on the mountaintop. Real change occurs after the descent.

Mountains are difficult to climb and it is even more difficult to remain at the top.

Leaders seek mountaintop experiences for themselves, their teams and their organization.

It’s not easy to build a camp on a peak.

Jesus took His disciples to a mountaintop experience which we can hardly imagine. Jesus was transfigured before their eyes while Elijah and Moses joined the small group meeting.

Peter liked this meeting so much he wanted to build sanctuaries and stay. “Master, it is good for us to be here.”

Often, the abiding focus of a mountaintop experience is to only notice the surroundings. “Isn’t this beautiful? I wanna stay forever.”

But every experience on a mountaintop must be accompanied by two words that Jesus used so often—”SO THAT.”

What is the impact of a mountaintop experience? Is it just an experience and nothing more?

The transfiguration lesson was simple, powerful and life changing.

“This is my beloved son, listen to Him” (Luke 9:35).

The disciples had more than an experience; they received a word.

Jesus didn’t come to us to be transfigured. He came down the mountain to transform lives on the cross.

Enjoy your moment on the mountain. Find your takeaway SO THAT your organization can be transformed.

Real change occurs after the descent.

Today’s Scriptures

“And when you stand praying, forgive if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father who is in heaven may also forgive you your sins” (Mark 11:25, emphasis added).

“I have told you these things so that in Me you may have peace” (John 16:33, emphasis added).

Platform Tip No. 73

I know what to expect when I see my accountant.

I know what the topic of conversation will be at my attorney’s office.

I have a pretty good clue what to expect at my dentist’s office.

Is your message so clear that people are drawn to you because of what you do and how you do it?

I know what to expect from John Maxwell, Dave Ramsey and Rick Warren.
