Studies Confirm Medical Mutilation Hikes Up Youth Suicide Rates

Liberals and transgenderism supporters throughout the globe claim that their mental health vastly improves after they undergo a sex-change procedure. Researchers at the University of Hamburg Medical Center in Germany have discovered exactly the opposite.

In their study published last month, numerous scientists have confirmed that "mutilating" gender surgeries fail to improve the overall lives of people struggling with gender dysphoria. Mental health in these people worsen, while feelings of loneliness increase as well as suicide rates.

Liberty Counsel reports that "peer-reviewed studies" suggest these "mutilating surgeries leave as high as 83% of people feeling lonelier and almost 50% dissatisfied with their lives after surgery. Research reveals a 14% increase in suicide rates for people who have access to these procedures.

In a subsequent study last month titled "Are Transgender People Satisfied With Their Lives?", 44% of people reported varying levels of dissatisfaction with their lives after irreversible surgeries whereas 30% reported "slight" satisfaction and only 1% reported extreme satisfaction.

The suicide rates are the most alarming to researchers. Following a June 2022 report, Heritage Foundation Senior Researcher Dr. Jay Greene pointed to a correlation between fewer legal barriers to "mutilating" surgeries and hormone treatments to higher suicide rates among youth experiencing gender dysphoria. Greene says that suicide rates among individuals ages 12 to 23 began to accelerate in 2015 as access to medical interventions without parental consent became more prevalent.

"By 2020, there were about 1.6 more suicides per 100,000 people ages 12 to 23 in states that have a policy allowing minors to access health care without parental consent than in states without such a policy," Greene said. "This increase in suicide rates in states where it is easier for minors to access puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones increased at almost the same degree as those interventions became available."

Thank God there are at least 19 states that now prohibit puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and "mutilating" surgeries for children. The latest state to join that heralded list was Texas, as Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law SB14 last week that does just that.

The left has cracked down on counseling for gender dysphoria, which the "gender business" and left-leaning media have falsely referred to as "conversion therapy." Some, like Matthew Grech, a former homosexual and now Christian from Malta, have even been arrested and prosecuted for this practice. Grech's legal problems began after he told his "ex-gay" testimony during an online interview advertised on Facebook.

In 2019, Charisma News reported that the California Senate passed a resolution telling pastors to "embrace LGBT beliefs."

But proponents of counseling for gender dysphoria say that this type of counseling operates from the viewpoint that people do not have to be chained to gender dysphoria or unwanted desires, behaviors or confusion.

Mary Beth Waddell, director of Federal Affairs for Family and Religious Liberty at Family Research Council, says, "The only way individuals dealing with gender dysphoria will come to live happy, healthy and authentic lives is by addressing the source of their dysphoria and pursuing healing. Until these root issues are properly dealt with, these individuals will not be completely satisfied."

And the Liberty Counsel will continue to defend licensed counselors against the medical community's efforts to push their agenda on today's youth.

"Gender ideology is permeating the medical community monetizing the act of mutilating children and adults alike into a billion-dollar industry," Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver says. "Scientific research is connecting the dots between gender dysphoria and underlying mental health issues. Liberty Counsel has successfully defended licensed counselors who have helped people with gender dysphoria by treating those underlying issues."
