Jerusalem Day 7: Jesus' Burial

(Jesus Film Youtube channel)

While many are celebrating the death of this so-called "outlaw" of the state, many others are still stunned by what has happened.

It was certainly a spectacle unlike any other, and it was a brutal showing of the Romans' tyrannical power. They seem very pleased with themselves.

But the chief priests are still concerned because Jesus had said that He would rise again in three days. The Sanhedrin want to do everything they can to make sure Jesus' disciples don't come in and steal His body away to validate His claims.

It has been said that a rich man, Joseph of Arimathea, who had apparently become a follower of Jesus, had gone to Pilate to ask for Jesus' body. Pilate granted Joseph's request.

I was told that they took the body—which was beyond recognition by the torture they had inflicted upon him—and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth. (Matt. 27:57-60).

March CM CoverThey laid Jesus' body in Joseph's new tomb that had been cut out of rock. They rolled a large stone to the door of the tomb and departed. I saw Mary Magdalene sitting there opposite of the tomb, with others.

That appears to be the end of it. Roman soldiers have been commanded to guard the tomb and make sure no one disturbs it.

But yet, I sense that something is getting ready to happen that no one would anticipate. Would He rise again? Lazarus was brought back from the dead, so why not Jesus? I'm wondering if Jesus will do what He said He would do.

But it seems so far-fetched.
