“Spy Kids” star Alexa PenaVega recently opened up about her experience of helping a pregnant teen choose life for her unborn baby.
On the “Speak Out with Christine Yeargin” podcast, PenaVega shared how a public figure messaged her after a pregnant teen’s sister reached out to him for help and advice. Knowing that PenaVega was pro-life, he believed she might have the answers the teenager was looking for.
This led to PenaVega being invited onto a zoom call to speak with the girl about why she should go through with the pregnancy. PenaVega took the time to explain the great joy and purpose she’s found in motherhood and offered to be part of the support system for the young woman and her baby. After the call, PenaVega wasn’t sure exactly how things would go for the teen girl. Surprisingly, the young woman went through with the pregnancy.
“What’s wild is she decided to keep the baby and I have a relationship her and I get to see this baby on social media and literally I can’t tell you how many times like I see this beautiful little girl and I start bawling,” PenaVega said. “Even to play the tiniest role in that girl’s life, I will forever feel connected to her.”
The Hallmark actress also shared her viewpoint on what being pro-life means to her.
“I honestly believe that you either believe in life as life as a whole and you see babies whether babies are in the womb or outside of the womb as life, or you don’t,” PenaVega said. “I just can’t see anything past, like, once life begins that is a whole baby. That is a beautiful life, and for me, I will do whatever it takes to protect that.”
PenaVega says the pro-choice movement is misunderstanding what the term “pro-life” entails. It’s more than just seeing the birth of a baby—it’s supporting a human being from the beginning to provide for all their needs.
“I think a lot of people feel like in today’s day and age if you’re pro-life that means you’re just pro-birth. I think that’s a huge misconception on what being pro-life means. Pro-life means like all of life. Looking at the aspect of the child, but also the mom. The mom needs resources, the mom needs help, she needs love and guidance and sometimes finances,” explained PenaVega.
PenaVega also commented on the fact that there is a real darkness behind abortion, including the fact that satanists use abortion as a way to make sacrifices. As a Christian, she understands that the attack on the unborn is part of a much greater battle. This is something people are seeing today as the debate continues whether or not retailers should sell the abortion pill.
“So, I just think that we’re just in such a dark, dark place in our world and you know people are calling good, bad and bad, good. And we’re fully seeing it, like, we’re in a war right now. It breaks my heart that people have been really manipulated into thinking that human life is just so disposable and they can’t even look at a baby as something that is a human.”
