Constant chatter floods social media about the uncertain times we are living in—but when is the future ever certain? Instead of worrying about your finances, job security and future plans let’s take a look to see what the Bible says about prosperity, faith and kingdom impact.

Charisma News sat down with Senior Leader at Zion Christian Fellowship Jim Baker, to talk about switching your mindsets when it comes to prospering in any season. “It’s always a good time to trust God,” Baker says in the interview.

Psalm 20:7 says, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we will remember the name of the Lord our God.”

Are you overwhelmed from looking at your bank account? How about the news cycle? Baker says to challenge yourself to take a look at what you are feeding your mind.

“You’re always going to release the atmosphere of the world you’re most aware of,” he says. When we are more aware of heaven than this world, all of the fears, worries and anxieties start to drift away. God is not sitting on His throne in heaven pondering how He can fix the inflation problems. Baker says, God isn’t concerned and you shouldn’t be either.

“When hopeless people get hope their situations begin to shift,” he says.

There’s a long standing debate in the Christian community when it comes to finances and how much money you should or shouldn’t have. Those who oppose any kind of wealth reference 1 Timothy 6:10 which says, “For the love of money is the root of all evil. While coveting after money, some have strayed from the faith and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”

Baker says it’s key to not stop reading just yet. When you go down to verse 17 you also read, “Command those who are rich in this world that they not be conceited, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who richly gives us all things to enjoy.”

Prosperity has a purpose. That purpose isn’t fancy cars, high-end clothing and mansions. “Affluence is for influence, income is for impact. In the kingdom more money equals more impact.” Baker continues saying, “Money in the hands of kingdom people is turning our dollars into soldiers to accomplish kingdom purposes.”

So, what is prosperity?

“Having more than enough resources to fulfill every divine assignment God has for you and enough left over to help others fulfill theirs,” he says.

Prosperity doesn’t always mean money. God can give you other resources to accomplish kingdom purposes that isn’t money. Whatever you have been entrusted with, make sure you steward well and God will continue to trust you with more. This life is about loving Jesus and making an impact in the world for the glory of God. Whether that’s through talents or finances, as long as lives are being touched, God’s purposes are being fulfilled.
