God is birthing something miraculous through the arts and entertainment in America. Despite Hollywood’s best efforts to riddle consumers with anti-biblical content, they can’t deny the fact that the evangelical audience is looking for Spirit-led movies.
This Friday, Oct. 21, a powerful movie based on a true story during the 1960’s Civil Rights movement is hitting theaters nationwide called, “Paul’s Promise.”
The 1960’s in Little Rock, Arkansas was a tumultuous time. The movie is based around Paul Holderfield’s inspirational story. He was a former racist firefighter who was radically touched by God, and ended up starting one of the first integrated churches in the South.
“Our story is a gritty story, it’s not Veggie Tales. It’s a story that says there is conflict and how do you deal with that conflict? You deal with it, with Christ,” Executive Producer Nick Logan says.
We spoke with Logan in an exclusive Charisma News interview about the power of fearless speech in America today. The film industry loads movies and shows with sex scenes, vulgar language and violence because that’s what people want to see.
As Christians we have the Holy Spirit who inspires us to be creative and glorify God through our gifting’s and talents, and that is a testimony. There is a spiritual awakening happening and people are looking for something real. Now is the time to support Christian’s in the arts, and get Spirit-led, inspirational content to the hurting and broken.
“We need to be having [inspirational] oratory whether it’s film or in music or in literature, but we have to have that imprinted on us,” Logan says.
Young people in the world today need to know their identity is in Christ. There is an attack on the identity of youth around the world. Logan says that through this movie people will see the power in standing up for truth and how God can use your ‘yes’ to shape a community.
