Former New Age Author Uncovers Deception in Angel Numbers

Read Time: 3 minutes 6 seconds

Numbers and patterns are used all throughout scripture by God to speak to us. But what is the Christian doctrine behind using numbers to interpret a prophetic message God may be speaking?

In Proverbs 25:2 Solomon says, "It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter." It is clear that the Holy Spirit reveals things to us through the scriptures about the depths and riches of God.

The Bible is tied together by events and numbers and it's clear that God wants us to search out truth and wisdom found in the scriptures. But, now people are searching for a message from God in "angel numbers." This could be a grocery store receipt that comes out to $111.11 or waking up at 4:44a.m. multiple nights in a row. Many people believe it is angels trying to speak to them. This is different than biblical number symbolism.

Numbers are used all throughout the Bible. Christian Apologetics and Research Ministry (CARM) says there is no denying that numbers are significant in the Bible. In an article on their website they say, "Who can deny that 40 is significant? Jesus was in the desert for 40 days, and the Israelites wandered in the desert for 40 years."

CARM says the number seven is spiritual perfection. "Seven days in a week. Seven colors in the spectrum. There are seven seals, seven trumpets, seven parables in Matthew and seven promises to the churches."

Also they say the number eight can be an indicator of new beginnings. "Eight people on Noah's Ark; circumcision on eighth day; God made eight covenants with Abraham."

Angels are real and mentioned 273 times in 34 books in the Bible. Hebrews 1:14 says, "Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to minister to those who will inherit salvation?" This tells you that angels are used by God to help believers. God commands His angels concerning us to guard us in all of our ways. He is the one to send angels on our behalf, we are never supposed to call on them, in fact the Bible explicitly says not to.

Doreen Virtue is a born-again Christian saved from New Age practices. After spending 58 years in New Age and Christian Science, even becoming the top-selling New Age author, she now speaks out against the use of angel numbers.

Virtue says, "Calling on angels is dangerous because demons masquerade as angels." 2 Corinthians 11:14 says, "And no wonder! For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light."

Searching for angel numbers is a New Age practice. The origin of angel numbers comes from a mystical numerology system. Many believe that whatever sequence of numbers you frequently see can point to an event or transition in your life.

According to Got Questions, a popular Christian website, New Agers are the ones who decided that numbers repeatedly showing up are not coincidental but messages from angels or spirit guides.

This is dangerous. Christians can find the answers and truth from God and what He has already spoken in the Bible. As believer's we are called to put our faith and trust in Jesus, not in angelic beings or numbers that keep popping up on a phone or alarm clock.

Opening the door to these types of practices can bring deception into your life that will only grow. The Bible says that in the last days that many will be deceived. Satan's main goal is to get your focus off of Jesus. Not every spirit is from God, there are many evil spirits that are walking on this earth today and they are fallen angels. Their goal is to separate you from God and His will for your life.

The Bible says to try the spirits and test and see they are from God. In the hour we are living in with false doctrines running rampant it is crucial that Christians cling to their Bibles and study the Word of God. He will speak to you through the Bible, it is alive and breathing and sharper than any two edged sword.

If you find yourself caught up any New Age practices, repent. You are sanctified and cleansed by the washing of water by the Word. When you read the Bible your mind is renewed and God can wash away false teachings and reveal to you truth. The Bible is the only truth and it contains everything you need on your spiritual journey with Jesus.
