The Source Causing Gen Z’s Sexual and Identity Confusion

“‘But whoever misleads one of these little ones who believe in Me, it would be better for him to have a millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea,'” (Matt. 18:6).

Unless they have a Damascus road moment, the executives and creatives at Disney are going to have a lot to answer for before the throne.

For their sake, Christians need to pray that happens.

In the meantime, a former Disney star is being paraded for “bravery” and “courage” for promoting queerness to youth.

On Aug. 28, the MTV Video Music Awards broadcast graphic dancing, acceptance speeches full of LGBTQ ideology and leftist talking points. These actions come as no surprise to many, which is why the viewership for these types of programs has plummeted over the years, but the pathway for this type of media all goes through the same place: Disney.

The award for “Best New Artist” went to Dove Cameron, a Disney alum who has been very open about her sexuality in the past. She starred in the show “Liv and Maddie” and in the “Descendant’s” films.

While on stage, Cameron confirmed that these modern-day celebrities are idols, as though they have taken the place of God. She told the crowd, “This is so wild to be up here with so many artists that I worship.” During her acceptance speech, she dedicated the award to “all of the queer kids out there … who don’t feel that they can take up space and inhabit the fullness of who they are. Thank you for getting an overtly queer song on to mainstream radio … I hope in that way, you’ve also given that privilege to yourself.” This sentiment misleads youth from the truth that their identity is in Jesus Christ.

Cameron follows in the footsteps of scores of pop stars and celebrities who have influenced generations of children, teenagers and adults. The short list includes:

  • Miley Cyrus
  • Raven Symone
  • Demi Lovato
  • Hayley Kiyoko (her nickname is “lesbian Jesus” )
  • Bella Thorne
  • The cast of Disney+’s “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series”

So, what else do these names listed that are known by millions of youths, teenagers and adults have in common? They’ve all come out as queer during their career. This sheds a partial light on the disparity of people who identify as LGBTQ among the various generations.

Disney is now the premier producer of queer media, and it shows in its product (outside of Middle East countries who threaten not to show that content). There is now a curated “Pride” section on Disney+ which lists many movies with LGBTQ messaging and characters.

Compound all of this with the admission of Karey Burke, president of Disney’s General Entertainment Content, that as a mother of two queer kids, she wants at least half of Disney characters to come from the LGBTQ community.

For some Christians, it simply is not easy coming to terms with the stance and impact that Disney now has on American culture. It’s easy to shrug off the agenda that drives Disney and stay subscribed to Disney+ to watch “the good movies,” while supporting the corporation with a monthly subscription.

There is no area of American culture this company does not touch (ESPN, Star Wars, Pixar, ABC, Hulu, etc.) and Christians cannot be ignorant of this. Believers in Christ must stand up to this indoctrination of culture that lasts for a lifetime, because it is not just children ingesting this content. Many Christian adults enjoy watching Marvel movies, yet how many took their children to see the newest Dr. Strange movie filled with the occult and witchcraft?

First Corinthians 10:21 boils it down for Christians to make a choice, even if it’s an inconvenient one: “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.” {eoa}
