UPDATE: ‘Cult Mom’ Focus of Upcoming Netflix Series

With a preview that is engrossed in dark, spiritual oppression, Netflix has released a trailer for their new documentary series, Sins of Our Mother.

This series sits down with Colby Vallow, Lori Vallow’s lone remaining child, as he recounts the events leading up to the deaths of Joshua “J.J” Vallow, Tylee Ryan and Tammy Daybell, and the aftermath of media sensationalism, investigations and court hearings.

Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell stand accused of multiple counts each of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder and grand theft by deception.

The series is focused on the dark, downward spiral that Vallow took after meeting Daybell, an apocalyptic author. This family cult that Chad created was based off Mormon teachings. Proclaiming he could discern the evil spirits from good, Lori claims she believed the only way to save her children’s souls was to free them from their earthly bodies.

Divorce documents from Vallow’s previous marriage show that she believed that she was “a god assigned to carry out the work of the 144,000 at Christ’s Second Coming in July 2020.” Now, Netflix is hoping to cash in on this tragedy that should come as a spiritual warning to everyone.

This horrific situation is explicitly warned about by the apostle Paul in 2 Corinthians 11:13-15:

“For such are false apostles and deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. Therefore, it is no great thing if his ministers also disguise themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.”

To protect against these types of deceitful teachings and spirits, Christians must be firmly rooted in the Word of God. Although something or someone may look or sound good at first, a close examination with God’s Word will reveal all of the devil’s traps.

Whether Vallow and Daybell have made up this apocalyptic cult story to try and escape punishment remains to be seen. However, Vallow most certainly will meet the originator of the lies she believed if she does not have a true heart-changing meeting with Jesus Christ. {eoa}
