Ohio Attorney General: ‘Political Violence Must Be Punished—And Harshly’

Many Americans are now faced with the reality that standing up for human life and being involved in any pro-life organization could result in a violent and purposeful attack against them.

The country that was built upon the freedom of speech and encouraged a melting pot of ideas as a productive means for a society to grow and flourish, is now allowing hate groups to act violently against those who don’t agree with them, with little to no repercussions.

Jane’s Revenge has claimed credit for attacks against pro-life groups in Colorado, Massachusetts, Oregon, Texas, Washington and Wisconsin according to a letter sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland. The pro-abortion group has declared “open season” on “any anti-choice group” that continues to operate post Roe v. Wade being overturned. The group is calling on its members “to paint, to burn, to cut, to jam” pro-life centers and advocates.

The far-left group even says that “through attacking,” its members “find joy and courage, and strip the veneer of impenetrability held by these violent institutions.” Many are now wondering why there isn’t anything being done by law enforcement agencies at the highest level, and why most mainstream media isn’t reporting on the incidents.

Ohio’s Attorney General Dave Yost lead state attorneys general in sending a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Federal Bureau of Investigation Director Christopher Wray and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas saying, “the Department of Justice is going easy on those who use violence in furtherance of favored viewpoints.”

All attacks involving arson, vandalism, destruction and threats of violence and death from Jane’s Revenge, have been directed towards pro-life groups, crisis pregnancy centers and churches.

“In this country, the federal government’s duty to protect against violence does not turn on the victim’s identity; access to justice cannot turn on partisan affiliation,” Yost said, “In America, we solve our differences with debates and ballots, not with bricks and Molotov cocktails. I urge you to thoroughly investigate these acts and to ensure that all those who threatened or carried out violence are brought to justice.”

Just last month, officials called out a lack of effort from the Biden administration to break up the picketing outside the homes of Supreme Court justices, even though the federal law plainly prohibits such conduct. The attorneys general sending the letter believe that growing domestic terrorists have received the message that those in the highest offices of law enforcement will not condemn their violence.

President Joe Biden has yet to denounce these attacks and the majority of mainstream news networks have yet to cover the extremism and hate crimes happening across America. Attorney General Yost is one of the many state attorneys general that is now asking those in charge to investigate the recent string of attacks as acts of domestic terrorism.

“Political violence—no matter the cause, and no matter the perpetrator—must be punished, and harshly,” Yost said.

On Jane’s Revenge website, there is a picture stating, “If abortion isn’t safe neither are you!” Throughout the website you can see pictures and descriptions of all of the pregnancy centers they have vandalized and attacked.

They are encouraging people to join in on their crusade noting that “as more people discover the joy in attacking the infrastructure of the patriarchy, the attacks will surely continue with increasing frequency. To anyone reading this thinking that it sounds like a good time, consider this your invitation to join the party.”

Many believe Yost’s influential letter will have some effect on how the FBI and attorney general pursue these cases going forward, considering the clear agenda to keep these attacks going. It was unknown at press release if the attorneys general had received a response. {eoa}
