New Film Sparks Clash Between Southern Baptist Seminaries

A firestorm has broken out between two Southern Baptist seminary presidents over the new eye-opening documentary, Enemies Within: The Church, which exposes the leftward turn of the church and other modern-day evangelical institutions. Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary President Adam Greenway tweeted a recent comment to Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary President Michael Spradlin containing a copy of an email urging him to cancel MBTS’ premier of the film this Saturday, saying its trailer contains “scandalous and scurrilous slander against SWBTS.”

The film, directed by charismatic pastor Cary Gordon, has already been canceled by Amazon.com, and is now streaming only at the ministry’s website and on the Charisma Plus app at this link. It reveals that SWBTS and other prominent evangelical institutions are some of the enemies that propagate a “woke” religion, including ties to Marxism, within the church. It also contains footage from SWBTS and portrays its teachings as not appropriately aligned with biblical truth, per Newsweek.

The Conservative Baptist Network, a partnership of Southern Baptists, announced the premiere of the film at MABTS via Twitter earlier this month:

Yesterday, MABTS released a statement confirming its support for the film, noting that “Southwestern Seminary’s inclusion in this film does not appear unfounded” and saying the seminary is “extremely concerned about the documented evidence it presents, as should be all Southern Baptists.” {eoa}
