As a Spirit-filled pastor, Michael Todd knows his life is just like the cell phone he carries around in his pocket: Without a power source, it simply won’t work.
That power source, he says, is prayer. And without a daily prayer life, the pastor of Transformation Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma says there will be no power in your life to make a difference for the kingdom.
“May I submit to you that your life is a lot like this cell phone. If you do not daily connect to a power source, the things we do in our lives are useless,” Todd says. “The crazy thing about this phone—and we all have one—is that no matter how much I can do with this phone, when it is not connected to a power source, it’s worthless.
“Most of us with our prayer lives, especially as young people, we pray whenever we need something. We don’t have a routine or discipline of prayer. How often do you charge your phone? Some of you have a charger in your back pocket right now, and you are charging it at least once a day. But, you know that you will not be able to make it through the day if you have not plugged into the source.
“Your life and connection to God is through prayer. I want you all to have this passion to pray with fire.”
And to pray with fire, Todd says, we must go back to a simple and well-known verse in the Bible, 2 Chronicles 7:14, which says, “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their since and will heal their land.”
“For you to pray, you’re going to have to humble yourself,” Todd says. “When you come to God, He doesn’t care about your crown. You have to put it down.”
