The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus faced a storm of social media backlash after posting a video it described as “ironic humor” about fears and concerns related to children and the gay agenda, per Fox News and other outlets.

“You think that we’ll corrupt your kids, if our agenda goes unchecked/ Funny, just this once, you’re correct,” a soloist sings.

“We’ll convert your children/ Happens bit by bit/ Quietly and subtly/ And you will barely notice it.

“You can keep them from disco/ Warn about San Francisco/ Make ’em wear pleated pants.

“We don’t care. We’ll convert your children. We’ll make them tolerant and fair.”

Later in the song, the lyrics continue in what many conservatives interpreted as a threatening tone: “Your children will care about fairness and justice for others/ Your children will work to convert all their sisters and brothers/ Then soon we’re almost certain, your kids will start converting you!

“The gay agenda is coming home/ The gay agenda is here!/ But you don’t have to worry because there’s nothing wrong with standing by our side.”

The San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus responded to the outcry by removing the video and posting a lengthy Twitter explanation asserting its innocence with the note, “It is obvious the tongue-in-cheek humor is lost on many.” However, multiple copies and clips from the original have appeared on other social media channels.

The chorus’ Twitter explanation also included the following words: “after decades of children being indoctrinated and taught intolerance for anyone who is ‘other,’ from using the Bible as a weapon to reparative therapy, it’s our turn.”

Comments on both sides have continued even after the takedown, with many of the left-leaning comments too profane to cite here. Andrew Smith tweeted, “It was too over-the-top to be real. It was designed to draw attention to the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus and it did. Mission Accomplished!

ACT for America founder Brigitte Gabriel tweeted a link with the comment, “This is grotesque and unacceptable!”

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro posted a reaction video, asserting that the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus video clearly promotes the true gay agenda of indoctrinating children.

Pastor Michael Foster of Easter River Church in Ohio also tweeted out his concern, quoting some of its lyrics and adding, “This is a religious war” and adding later, “And yet pastors think they can sit up the ‘cultural war’ and stay politically neutral. You can’t when its positively wicked spiritual attack on the church. Wake up, sleeper!”

“The Atomic Mom” noted in her tweet: “Keep telling yourself it was satire guys. Just keep doing that …”
