The American Pastors Network (APN) is kicking off an inspirational, exciting and very necessary prayer initiative leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

Called "52 Tuesdays," the yearlong prayer focus will call on Christians to pray for America as never before. The initiative will officially begin tomorrow, Nov. 12, which is 52 Tuesdays from the important election set for Nov. 3, 2020.

During this crucial season of prayer, APN President Sam Rohrer says prayer is the only solution to the nation's problems.

"It's clear our nation needs prayer," Rohrer said. "We've all heard the phrase, 'Prayer changes things,' but do we believe it? The apostle Paul said, 'Pray without ceasing.' James said, 'The effectual prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much.' As Christians, we should place great value on prayer—personal and national—because God does. Most Christians know that prayer is important, and some pray faithfully for our nation and themselves, yet we see few visible answers. If we are to assemble and pray for our nation, we must know what God requires when we pray. This is just one concept about prayer we will explore during this yearlong prayer initiative, and we hope millions of Christians will join us, because prayer does change things."

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, Rohrer and his co-hosts will welcome award-winning journalist, best-selling author and Christian publisher Stephen E. Strang to the "Stand in the Gap Today" program, which airs on hundreds of stations nationwide. Listen live here. (This link will only work once the broadcast is live at 12:05 to 1:00 pm EST.)

Strang is the author of the forthcoming book, God, Trump, and the 2020 Election: Why He Must Win and What's at Stake for Christians if He Loses, slated for Jan. 14, 2020 release.

"[I write about] Trump's vision to reverse the loss of American sovereignty and prosperity—a vision I believe he received from God," Strang says in the book's introduction. "I believe God wants America to be great because God has raised up this nation, going back to our Founding Fathers, to be a beacon of light and hope for the world. Because of our religious liberty, Christianity has flourished, allowing the gospel to be spread across the globe."

Strang also discusses the urgency of Christians continuing to support the president, as his policies help hold back the left from crushing the rights of all Americans, including Christians. In 2016, the evangelical community saw God raise up Donald Trump to lead America at a pivotal time. Evangelicals who recognized this backed him more than any presidential candidate in history. Heading into 2020, the stakes in his reelection are even higher. Strang's unique understanding of Christian voters gives him insight into why they supported Donald Trump in 2016 and why he believes they will again in even greater numbers in 2020. His new book is also an inside look into how spiritual warfare is shaping the presidential race, which is an important subject for Bible-believing Christians.

Strang is also the bestselling author of God and Donald Trump, which was brandished by the president at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 2018, and Trump Aftershock: The President's Seismic Impact on Culture and Faith in America. The founder and CEO of Charisma Media, Strang was voted by Time magazine as one of the 25 most influential evangelicals in America. He has interviewed four U.S. presidents and has been featured on Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, CBN, Dr. James Dobson's "Family Talk," The DailyCaller.com and many Christian outlets.

For the 52 Tuesdays initiative, APN calls on all pastors to weekly encourage their congregations to pray with "who, what, when, where, why and how" in mind, as each American carefully considers our nation, its leaders and the meaning, the gravity and the outcome of praying for America.

Regular fourth segments of the daily, one-hour program will be dedicated to these prayer discussions, and guests to the show will be part of the prayers as well. Additionally, the "Stand in the Gap Today" co-hosts will be inviting listeners to pray with them, and live engagement will also occur through a variety of platforms.

Rohrer added that this special year of prayer will focus on the biblical basics of prayer, such as why we pray, what prayer is and what we are called to pray for as citizens. These basics will be explored on the "Stand in the Gap Today" radio program and Tuesdays will be dedicated topics for prayer, including prayer for the president, the nation and for repentance.

Besides leading APN, Rohrer also hosts the daily radio feature, "Stand in the Gap Minute" and the weekly television program, "Stand in the Gap TV," reaching millions of potential views on several networks.
