How Obeying the Holy Spirit Led This Young Intern to Most ‘Profound’ Moment in Israel

Anna Babcox, intern with the Philos Project, helps teach English to Arab Christians and Jewish students in Israel. She’s enjoyed connecting with the community there and emphasizes how relational evangelism has impacted her.

“There have certainly been moments where people come and [say] ‘Hey, you’re a Christian, tell me about that,’ and I do, so I think the most profound and beautiful moments I’ve had in Israel have been simple moments of connection, where I talk about the gospel and my Jewish friends are talking about Torah, and suddenly, look at that, they’re so similar. And you can connect and relate.

“And we don’t have to change each other’s mind or convince one another of anything. It’s just a moment of human, faith-filled connection.”

On the “Charisma News” podcast on the Charisma Podcast Network, Babcox says her five-year plan got “thrown out the window,” because she remained faithful to the Holy Spirit’s leading, and He opened up this opportunity to serve in Israel. She learned about the Philos Project after going to Israel through the Passages program. But rather than becoming frustrated about the change in plans, she’s come to appreciate God’s alternative plan a great deal.
