Gunshots every night. Helicopter blades beating the night sky. Gang rivalries compromising any sense of safety.

Harmony “Dust” Grillo’s childhood was the stuff of nightmares.

“I remember walking down the street and seeing a man stabbed to death five feet from me, and [I covered] my brother’s eyes,” Grillo tells Shawn Bolz in “Exploring the Prophetic.”

Multiple men sexually abused Grillo as a child, and she was raped when she was a teen.

“It was a huge deal,” Grillo says. “It marked my life. It kept me silent. It kept me filled with shame and self-loathing.”

By the time Grillo turned 13, her mother, a cocaine addict, left to follow her boyfriend to Canada.

At 19, Grillo followed her boyfriend into the sex industry, where she became a stripper.

But a few years later, Grillo went from victim to UCLA honor student and ultimate got her master’s degree in social work.

What happened in between? God.

Listen to the podcast to hear how Grillo met the Lord and changed her life.
