Mark Biltz: Why Seemingly Benign Artificial Intelligence Can Destroy Humanity

If there's a high-tech advancement that will affect our everyday lives, Elon Musk is likely commenting on it.

According to CNBC, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO says that artificial intelligence "doesn't have to be evil to destroy humanity." He's making this bold claim in a documentary called Do You Trust This Computer? and warns that the creation of superintelligence could lead to an "immortal dictator."

In his new book, Decoding the Antichrist and the End Times: What the Bible Says and What the Future Holds, author and pastor Mark Biltz says that humanity is desperately seeking someone with a strong hand to take the helm and bring about world peace. A central theme of Decoding the Antichrist is the role of technology in our future and even whether the Antichrist will have an artificial intelligence element.

"Some look for a strong leader who has the ability to compromise and appease every faction to stop all the madness," Biltz says. "But what character traits are truly needed to navigate the strong currents of public opinion that shape the world we live in?

"Over the past few centuries, many have postulated who the Antichrist might be—speculating whether he would be a Muslim, a Jew or a Catholic Christian—but few people have ever wondered what he might be!" Biltz continues. "In this age of AI, some are wondering if the Antichrist might be some kind of super-intelligent hybrid human cyborg, and top experts are warning us of the malicious use of artificial intelligence."

It's no longer difficult to imagine the Antichrist in AI parameters—an Antichrist who can project himself all over the world as a hologram, demanding to be worshipped.

"When it comes to truly decoding the Antichrist, we need to realize that the discovery of who or what the Antichrist will be is not nearly as important as understanding why, the motivating purpose behind why he has come at this time," he says. "As children of God, we need to be wise and have discernment. We need to understand the motivation behind the Antichrist's actions."

Decoding the Antichrist and the End Times asks and seeks to answer the following questions:

  • What does the Bible say about the Antichrist, his tactics and his motivation?
  • Will he be a Muslim, a Jew or a professed Christian—or something else?
  • Will the Antichrist work through modern technology to seize control?

"I believe we are truly entering the final chapter on this world's stage, and the curtain will soon be coming down or rolled away," Biltz says. "I am not claiming to know how many pages are left in God's script, but those who have eyes to see and ears to hear what the Spirit of God is saying know it is time to start packing your bags, spiritually speaking."

Mark Biltz is founder of El Shaddai Ministries and a well-known and popular commentator on the feasts of the Lord. In fact, he has produced a series of DVDs on the feasts that have gone around the world. Biltz is also the author of Blood Moons and God's Day Timer. His research and theories have led to guest appearances on both radio and television as well as being featured on the covers of magazines.

Decoding the Antichrist and the End Times is released by Charisma House, which has published books that challenge, encourage, teach and equip Christians, including 14 New York Times' best-sellers.
