She Called off Her Christian Wedding and Became a Lesbian, but God ...

Janet Boynes came from a troubled home. Her family constantly argued, her mother beat her if the house was not properly cleaned, and when she was 13, her stepfather started raping and molesting her. But as a young woman, Boynes met God—and a nice young man. The two were happy and excited to get married.

But then three months before the wedding, Boynes fell into homosexual sin with a close friend.

"The next day, I went to my pastor, and that was three months before I was supposed to walk down the aisle in 1985," Boynes says on an episode Overcomers: Leaving LGBT, a special topic series on the "Charisma News" podcast. "After I confessed, he told me three things—which he was correct [about]—to do: 'Call off your wedding, tell your fiance and get some help.'"

"I told my fiance. I called off my wedding. And I walked away from the Lord for 14 years."

But God wasn't done pursuing Boynes. In fact, He used the very church she walked away from to help bring her home.
