Spirit-Filled Pastor: Marvel’s Dr. Strange Created in Likeness of Prominent 1900s Occult Leader

Joe Schimmel enjoyed watching the first two Spider-Man movies with his kids, but as he watched more superhero movies, he noticed that elements of occultism were slowly becoming more prominent. He also noticed that characters who seemed to represent God were “portrayed to be evil,” while characters who practiced witchcraft were painted as good.

After discerning that something was a little bit off about Marvel movies, Schimmel decided to research Marvel and its ties to the occult. Who he found at the bottom of all of it was an early 1900s British occultist named Aleister Crowley.

Crowley was a prolific writer during his time and a self-proclaimed prophet who taught others how to use sexual immorality to perform magic rituals and how to become proficient at the arts by contacting demonic entities. Schimmel was already thoroughly acquainted with Crowley’s work because of research he had done for one of his first films, They Sold Their Souls for Rock and Roll. In his research, he found Crowley’s work had influenced many famous bands, including Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, The Beatles, and Ozzy Osbourne.

‘The Harbingers of Things to Come’ Far Surpasses Ohio Theater’s Expectations

In its first week of showing, The Harbingers of Things to Come was the second-highest-grossing motion picture in the nation.

Shown across 823 theaters on May 12, the explosive film discusses America’s cataclysmic falling away from God and describes prophetic revelations and warnings for God’s people. The movie is drawing large numbers from the faith community, including in North Central Ohio.

“We are in the Bible Belt,” says one Cinemark employee. “There are a lot of church people in this area that are going to see this movie.”

Jonathan Cahn’s ‘The Harbingers of Things to Come’ Unites People in Prayer, Praise and Worship at Movie Theaters

Moviegoers throughout the country, ask yourselves this poignant question: Have you ever gone to see a film in a public theater and, at the end, heard someone break out in a gospel hymn to praise God? Have you ever seen people break out in prayer following a movie?

Most likely the answer to both of those questions is a resounding no. But then Jonathan Cahn’s The Harbingers of Things to Come, which debuted in 823 theaters nationwide last Thursday night, May 12, is no ordinary movie.

And many of those who went to see the much-anticipated film from the bestselling author of The Harbinger are no ordinary entertainment-seekers. They are believers in Jesus Christ who are hungry for worldwide revival and a move of God that will bring light to the cultural darkness we are seeing these days. {eoa}
