Is This the End of Human Existence as We Know It?

The above video is not a futuristic, science fiction movie or documentary. The future is here, and it does not bode well for human beings.

Tesla Al Day CEO Elon Musk says, is in the midst of developing a prototype of a humanoid robot that he says will “navigate through a world built for humans and can eliminate dangerous, repetitive and boring tasks” that human beings perform every day.

Musk says Tesla, arguably the biggest robotics company in the world, hopes the prototype will be available in 2022 and said the company will use the technology it currently uses for its cars in the humanoid robot.

“You think about what we’re doing with cars, and our cars are semi-sentient robots on wheels,” Musk says. “It kind of makes sense to put that in human form. The Tesla bot will be real. … you can talk to it and say, ‘Pick up that bolt and attach it to the car with a wrench.’ It should be able to do that. You can talk to it, and It should be able to go to the store and get you the following groceries.

“This will be quite profound. What is the economy? At its foundation, it’s labor. … There will come a time where there will be a need for a universal basic income. But, not right now. Essentially, physical labor will be a choice. If you want to do it, do it. But it’s a choice.

Commenters on the YouTube video were concerned, if not horrified, by the thought of a humanoid robot.

“So this is the beginning of the end,” FaZe Orba said.

“The takeover is near. Let’s wait,” Jackson Yohana said.

“Remember, this is not just a game, this is our future,” Yakup Ihsan said.
