Empowered21 Turns Jerusalem2020 Into Online Event at ORU Due to Coronavirus Pandemic

Empowered21 announced its Jersualem2020 Global Congress will now take place on the Oral Roberts University (ORU) campus due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event will be available online via livestream.

The event was supposed to take place in Jerusalem Pentecost weekend, May 31-June 3. But since Israel instituted an indefinite ban of all international conferences and gatherings of more than 100 people in enclosed areas, Empowered21 changed its plans.

The organization released the following statement:

In response to the government of Israel’s indefinite ban of all international conferences within Israel due to the coronavirus pandemic, Empowered21 announced that it will forego the in-person Jerusalem2020 Global Congress formerly scheduled to take place in Jerusalem during the week of Pentecost 2020. The Empowered21 Global Congress will shift to an online event, May 31-June 2, which will stream live from the campus of Oral Roberts University (ORU).

“We find comfort in knowing that God is not surprised by this turn of events,” said Dr. Billy Wilson, president of ORU and global co-chair for Empowered21. “We hold fast to our mission to see every individual on earth have an authentic encounter with Jesus through the presence and power of the Holy Spirit by Pentecost 2033. We believe that this adjustment to an online event will actually help us accelerate the mission that God has given us.”

ORU will host and stream online the Empowered 21 Global Congress event from May 31-June 2, beginning with a live Pentecost Sunday celebration with special guests and worship teams. For future details on these events, visit Empowered21.com.

So far, Israel has reported 100 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, also known as COVID-19. Most of the cases in Israel involve those who recently traveled.

On a global scale, the virus has killed around 4,300 people and infected more than 118,000.

“We ask that everyone would join us in praying against the spread of coronavirus, healing for all those affected and that many lives will be touched with the power and the presence of the Holy Spirit through our upcoming online global congress,” Wilson says. “In Matthew 24, Jesus tells us that there would be upheaval, including global disease, but that ‘this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations.’ This unique [historic] moment requires a new way for a new day.”

Empowered21 is an organization that seeks to unite those in the Spirit-empowered movement around the world by connecting generations and pursuing a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
