Spirit-empowered believers representing 22 European nations and multiple continents gathered for the first Empowered21 Central and Eastern Europe regional congress in Kyiv, Ukraine this past March 15-17.

“The presence of the Holy Spirit was evident and powerful,” said Pastor Henry Madava, Empowered21 regional Co-Chair and Pastor of Kyiv Victory Church. “Central and Eastern Europe is a very strategic region after being under Communism for 70 years. The church is shaking off its past and striving for revival, gaining on the loss experienced during communism.”

With more than 2,200 in attendance, the Congress is the first initiative of the newly formed Central and Eastern Europe Cabinet, under the leadership of Co-chairs Henry Madava and Edward Grabovenko, Head Bishop of the Russian Church of Christians of Evangelical Faith. Ministry leaders on the cabinet share a passion for reaching the youth of Europe through unity, prayer and fasting, pastoral training, local outreach, mentorship and technology.

“What we witnessed this week was an amazing unity in the Spirit,” said Grabovenko. “Under the vision of Empowered21, we gathered in one accord from Central and Eastern Europe, and anticipate a greater emboldening of the Holy Spirit throughout our region.”

Sessions featured inspiring worship and praise and messages on the Holy Spirit boldly delivered from renowned speakers; Empowered21 Global Chair and ORU President Dr. Billy Wilson, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez (President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference), Pastor Wayne Hilsden (Pastor of King of Kings Community Jerusalem), Bishop John Francis (Senior Pastor of Ruach City Church), Nick Park (Evangelical Alliance Ireland), Ossie Mills (Executive Director, Empowered21), Bishop Edward Grabovenko and Pastor Henry Madava

“This is the global mission of E21,” said Wilson. “We gather the Spirit-empowered community to give focus for the distinct purpose of crying out in heart and voice for all generations to know the power and presence of the living God.”

“The spiritual landscape of Central and Eastern Europe changed at Kyiv2017! To deliver the Word to these leaders, from nations oppressed for three quarters of a century was a tremendous privilege,” said Rodriguez. “The Congress is a microseism of what Empowered21 is doing around the world—bringing the church together to usher in a 21st -century breakthrough of the Holy Spirit.”

The Congress intently focused on practical topics such as church planting in the 21st century, the impact of the next generation in the church, the development of arts in the Spirit-filled movement, raising a family in the modern-day culture, church growth in a post-communistic society, and miracles, healings and deliverance.

Ministry leaders from across Europe joined the regional cabinet in seeking unity for the future with an increased emphasis on spiritual gifts for empowering the Church.
