New York City Pastor to Broadcast Easter Service From Times Square

New York City V1 Church lead pastor Mike Signorelli realizes the reality of silent sanctuaries around the country for Easter services on Sunday, April 12, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But Signorelli has an answer for those who think that’s going to stop the power and supernatural impact of Jesus’ Resurrection on the lost and discouraged of the world.

With the blessing of the NYC police precinct, Signorelli will preach his Resurrection Sunday message to the world from an empty Times Square via livestreaming on the V1 Church’s YouTube channel—provided he abides by the rules of social distancing while he is filming.

The location, he says, is appropriate because Times Square is often referred to as the “crossroads of the world.” Signorelli believes that “if we can show the world the cross of Jesus Christ, we can find our way back home to God.”

“Our churches might be empty, but so was the grave!” Signorelli says. “God is strategically using this season to reach the world. If every church in America was completely filled for Easter, there still would be not enough room to contain the total population.

“In this way, broadcasting to every phone, tablet and TV ensures that more people can hear the gospel. I also believe that many believers, even those who don’t consider themselves ‘religious,’ have created an invisible boundary between their home and a church building.”

The service will be broadcast live Sunday at 9 a.m. ET, and will be repeated at 10:10 a.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Signorelli prays that the message God has given him will be an overwhelming light in a dark time for people around the globe. The coronavirus has claimed more than 20,000 lives in the United States over the past few months and has not only sent citizens into a panic, but has disrupted the normal lives of just about every American.

“New York is the epicenter of COVID-19,” Signorelli says. “Jesus reveals Himself most clearly in the eye of the storm. Humanity continually finds itself with problems that all known science and all known technology cannot solve. We are in that place again, and people are turning their hearts toward Jesus. We need a word from another world when our world is out of answers.”

Signorelli shared with Charisma News a video of one of his V1 Church and prayer team members, Evelyn Roman, a nurse in New York City who is fighting COVID-19 on the front lines. This Facebook video went viral and, he says, it demonstrates how Christ followers should fight their battles, like the coronavirus.

“As believers, we have three options with culture,” Signorelli says. “We can receive, reject or redeem. This is an unprecedented time for the church to redeem technology. Although the transition to digital has been painful for many, I believe we are going to see supernatural results and many Christian leaders beginning a new era in their ministry. They will look back at this time as a necessary pain.

“This video shows the world that the peace of God and the power of God can be accessed anywhere. We often find the answers to what afflicts us in medicine, politics or technology. It’s in times like these, when those things have no ability to heal, that we begin to turn our hearts to the supernatural. The promise of Jesus is that those who believe in Him will never die. We need death and suffering redefined by the cross and Resurrection of Christ!”
