Michelle Obama will never run for president of the United States, her husband Barack Obama tells Rolling Stone.

“Michelle will never run for office. She is as talented a person as I know. You can see the incredible resonance she has with the American people. But I joke that she’s too sensible to want to be in politics,” he told the magazine.

As Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton grew sicker while the election progressed, some speculated the incumbent first lady would take her place.

“If I were the Democrats, Michelle Obama is the one that I would select if a replacement nominee was needed, because she would give them the very best chance of winning against Donald Trump,” blogger Michael Snyder wrote just weeks before the 2016 election.

As first lady, Michelle launched many nationwide programs and frequented television shows to promote her ideals.

After she leaves the White House, Vanity Fair speculated Michelle will become a tastemaker on par with Oprah Winfrey.

VF reports the Obamas will “pursue urban issues that affect Chicago in particular and underserved communities like that—gun control being one of them, … which is a really controversial issue and one that a first lady could never touch. She cares a lot about nuclear nonproliferation. I see them doing something akin to what the Carters did with the Carter Center and what the Clintons did with the Global Initiative—kind of a charity that also deals with urban issues in the U.S.”
