A billboard company refused to post a God’s Not Dead 2 billboard ahead of the Republican National Convention, despite promoting an atheist billboard.
Orange Barrel Media declared the pro-faith message was not acceptable according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The GND2 billboard was to feature star Melissa Joan Hart with the quote, “I’d rather stand with God and be judged by the world than to stand with the world and be judged by God.”
Orange Barrel told Pure Flix it didn’t like the “judged by God” message, calling it “too political” and “way too incendiary,” according to THR.
Meanwhile, the sign advertising the Freedom From Religion Foundation’s message was considered totally acceptable.
The atheist billboard displays deceased former President Ronald Reagan with the quote, “We establish no religion in this country,” right next to the “Welcome to Cleveland” sign at the airport.
“I’m perplexed,” Pure Flix CEO Steve Fedyski said. “They dragged us along for weeks. Now, right up against the convention date, they say we aren’t approved, and they give us no logical rationale. My speculation is that someone, somewhere didn’t want our message out. It’s hard to understand, considering we’ve used the same marketing on CNN and other national networks.
“They picked the building and the size, and advertised that it was available. They gave us a budget and deadlines and we met all of it, then they put us on hold. We missed a primary promotional opportunity,” he said.
