One congregation member raised his gun against another, allegedly killing a fellow parishioner during a Sunday morning service.
Police have identified the shooter of of 27-year-old Robert Braxton, who was killed during a service at Keystone Fellowship Church in Pennsylvania.
“Our hearts are deeply grieved over the tragic event that occurred Sunday morning, April 24 at our Montgomeryville campus. As a church family, we are shocked and heartbroken over what took place, and our congregation is in prayer for everyone involved,” according to a church statement.
The Washington Post reports the gunman has not been charged.
During a news conference, Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele said investigators were trying to “determine if the shooting was justified under the law.”
A missionary to Sudan was speaking during the church service.
“I thought, ‘Oh my God, they put a hit out on the missionary,'” church attendee Joel Somers told the Philadelphia Inquirer.
The congregation says they are in prayer for all involved.
