Liberty Counsel President Anita Staver will now carry a gun into Target restrooms to protect herself, according to her Twitter page.

"I'm taking a Glock .45 to the ladies room. It identifies as my bodyguard. #BoycottTarget @Target" Staver tweeted.

She later clarified that it isn't to protect her from transgender people; rather, "I want protection from the perverts who will use the law to gain access to women."

Target announced last week anyone can use the restroom or changing room of the gender they identify with.

"In our stores, we demonstrate our commitment to an inclusive experience in many ways," reads Target's website. "Most relevant for the conversations currently under way, we welcome transgender team members and guests to use the restroom or fitting room facility that corresponds with their gender identity."

In response, thousands rallied to boycott the retailing giant, fueled by the American Family Association's pledge.

"Target's policy is exactly how sexual predators get access to their victims. And with Target publicly boasting that men can enter women's bathrooms, where do you think predators are going to go?" the pledge reads

"Clearly, Target's dangerous new policy poses a danger to wives and daughters. We think many customers will agree. And we think the average Target customer is willing to pledge to boycott Target stores until it makes protecting women and children a priority."

More than 544,000 have signed the pledge to boycott the stores based on their bathroom policy.

Liberty Counsel has offered or provided pro bono assistance to fight bathroom bills in 20 states, according to Life Site News
