Jeremy Lin did not enjoy his NBA career until God stepped in, he told his prayer group via email.

"Praise that God has continued to teach me contentment and joy in His presence. My first 5 years in the NBA, I can sadly, but honestly, say that I didn't really enjoy them," the basketball star wrote.

"There was always something I felt was missing (playing time, starting, health, stats, making the playoffs, winning, etc). This year, I have been able to slow down and enjoy each day/game more than ever before. Some of my circumstances haven't changed, but my perspective has and that's what God has been working out in my heart!"

Lin announced earlier in the basketball season he started a Bible study for his fellow Charlotte Hornets' teammates.

Now, Lin says he's encouraged as many of his teammates are open to learning more about Jesus and growing in their spiritual walks.

As a relatively new member of the Hornets—he came on in 2015 after a stint with the Lakers—Lin has struggled to find a place on the court. However, he scored 24 points in a recent game against the Lakers, giving commentators hope for his place on the team.

"Lin has struggled to adjust to his unclear role with the Hornets, as his minutes are constantly shifting," Hoop Habits' Andrew Snyder writes. "When Kemba Walker is healthy and starting, Lin is relegated to backup duty or playing shooting guard while Walker or Nicolas Batum run the show. When Walker is hurt or playing poorly Lin occasionally is allowed to settle into his favored role of creator and floor general."
