“Linsanity” may have died down, but Jeremy Lin’s enthusiasm for the gospel of Jesus Christ is still running in high gear.

Lin, who garnered a great deal of fame and won over many fans with his spectacular play with the NBA’s New York Knicks in 2011-2012, continues to share his faith with the public.

Following last year’s “Jeremy Lin’s Miracle Night” evangelism conference in Taipei, Lin was invited for a return visit to Taiwan and will speak to more than 18,000 youth at the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center on Aug. 18. Lin is the first individual of Taiwanese descent to ever play in the NBA.

Lin also will join New York Times best-selling author and pastor Francis Chan in September in the Cow Palace in San Francisco at a large-scale evangelistic conference titled Identity Unleashed to address the question “What matters in life?”

After his breakout campaign in 2011-2012 with New York, in which he became a household name and which landed him on the cover of such magazines as ESPN and GQ, Lin signed with the Houston Rockets and played his first full season in the NBA in 2012-2013, averaging 13.4 points and 6.1 assists per game.

He admits the hype surrounding him during the previous season was a bit overwhelming, but he has learned to lean on God’s steady hand.

“With all the media attention, all the love from the fans, I felt I needed to prove myself,” Lin shares on the Identity Unleashed website. “But I’ve surrendered to God. I’m not in a battle with what everybody thinks anymore.

“The thing I learned through Linsanity is that there is nothing that this world can offer that will provide me with true joy, fulfillment and satisfaction. There’s only one thing that can truly and eternally satisfy you—that’s Jesus Christ,” he told the crowd at last year’s event in Taiwan.

While Lin hopes for continued success on the basketball court, his desire to be a positive role model is much stronger.

“I want to be able to do that and serve these kids and to be able to just share God’s love with them,” Lin told GospelHerald.com. “I think with the Jeremy Lin Foundation, if we can make a little bit of change in a couple of kids’ lives, it will be well worth it.”
