Tony Dungy and Chuck Norris are the latest celebrities to encourage Tim Tebow, who was recently let go from the New York Jets.

Dungy, a former Super Bowl-winning football coach, posted a video Friday on the All-Pro Dad website.

“I know Tim Tebow must be frustrated that he hasn’t found the right team yet and is still searching,” Dungy wrote in an introduction to the video. “Here’s the advice I would give to Tim as he waits for his new team.”

Dungy said in the video, “Tim Tebow, really, I know, is disappointed that he hasn’t gotten going on a team and in a direction, knowing what locker room he’s gonna be in right now. But the advice I’d have for Tim is just to be patient and be faithful. The Lord has a good spot for you; He’s going to give you the right situation.

“Tim’s a winner, and he’s a guy that lifts his teammates. He lifts the spirits of any team that he’s with. So he’s gonna find a place to go to work, and he’ll find the right spot and give those guys some encouragement and be a chance to be a winner. So my advice would be just be patient, wait for the Lord to show you that right team, and be ready to go.”

Meanwhile, Norris wrote in his syndicated online column that he thinks the Christian football player could be an NFL superstar.

“I have been following Tim since he became a QB for the University of Florida Gators, and I never have seen a more determined or inspiring athlete to play the game of football. And I’m not alone in that sports assessment,” Norris wrote last week.

“I’ve heard the critics say Tebow has poor technical skills, but the truth is that Tim is a natural leader, an amazingly gifted football player, an inspiration to his team and the possessor of intense determination and strategy to bring any team to victory—no matter what the odds. One can improve technique, but leadership is innate. That is why I believe that Tebow could be a superstar and legend in the NFL.”

Norris even said the former Florida Gators quarterback reminds him of himself.

“Tebow is a player who rises to the occasion and delivers big in critical moments,” Norris said. “He reminds me of myself when I used to compete in martial arts. I would spar with my black belts in class, and sometimes they would outscore me. Yet in the tournaments, I would defeat them. My students used to ask me, ‘Why is it that we can contend equally against you in class but can’t beat you in the tournaments?’ My answer was always the same: ‘When it counts, I rise to the occasion.’

“The same is true of the former Heisman Trophy winner: When pressure mounts and the game is on the line, Tim’s turbo turns on. It has been said, ‘If a quarterback came through with a clutch, final-minute victory, he pulled a Tebow.’ And that is why he is the ultimate clutch player.”

Norris went on to say he believes the Jacksonville Jaguars should give Tebow “the opportunity to excel as a quarterback and usher it to Super Bowl status.

“Why? To put it simply, it’s because Tim could help turn that mediocre team into a championship one. Tebow works miracles on the field, and his inclusion would embolden the spirit of the Jaguars’ players and fans.”
