The Boy Scouts of America is surveying its members to determine their views on homosexuality, gay leaders, and allowing gays to camp with children.

The 13-question survey sent to 1.1 million adult Scouts asks them to share their views on the impact of banning or allowing gay members.

It also includes hypothetical situations, such as whether it is acceptable to allow a gay troop leader to sleep in a tent with a heterosexual boy.

Scouts spokesman Deron Smith says the organization is in a "listening phase" as it struggles with a decision on whether to lift its ban on gays.
