As more than a dozen countries involved inInternet evangelism—from all parts of the globe—joined together today via a Skype video conference call, the meeting commenced with this verse from Matthew 28:19.

With emphasis on the phrase: “All the nations.”

In less than four years since the official launch of Jesus.net in August of 2009, the worldwide Internet evangelism project has just passed the 5 million mark for people indicating a decision made to accept Christ.

Five million global decisions for Christ a cause of celebration?

Certainly—with one caveat.

“We give all the thanks and all the glory to Jesus,” said Henryk Krol from his home in Gliwice, Poland. “There is joy in our hearts today, just as there is joy in heaven for each person who has repented.”

More than 20 countries have partnered in the Jesus.net project, with about half connecting this week via Skype, including the Czech Republic, France and India. Each country shared a short story about what God is doing through their particular evangelistic website.

“I’m so glad to be part of this great team,” said John Martin from India. “God is doing great things in India.”

Martin read a testimony sent in by one woman whose life has been changed by the one true and living God: “I’ve started to pray and I’m seeing miracles in my life.”

In some ways, what has transpired since God gave France’s Eric Célérier a passion to build evangelistic websites over a decade ago to reach "the ends of the earth" is nothing short of a miracle.

it’s not just the 5 million recorded decisions that moves Célérier. It’s all the changed lives through follow-up materials and online discipleship coaches. Jesus.net partners are working to give every new believer not only the opportunity of online discipleship, but a seamless way to get involved through a network of local churches.

SearchforJesus.net, the Internet evangelism website launched by the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association at its headquarters in Charlotte, N.C, has seen 1.8 million people indicate decisions for Christ since its launch in the spring of 2011 and is now partnering with the Phillipines, Portugal and Mexico to meet people where they are at—searching for significance online.

“What a joy to share and celebrate as one body,” Célérier prayed. “As we cross the mark of 5 million people who have made decisions to follow you, we give You all the praise and honor.”
