Morality in Media (MIM) is directing a massive collaborative project, hosting 30 free online events designed to help individuals understand and battle the many harms of pornography during the 25th annual White Ribbon Against Pornography Week, Oct. 28 through Nov. 4.

“America is suffering an untreated pandemic of harm from pornography,” said Dawn Hawkins, executive director of MIM. “It is destroying families and is the main contributor to the sexual exploitation of women and children. Pornography is also the gateway to the sex industry. The harm of pornography now touches every American family and Morality in Media is determined that this harm must end.”

Morality in Media has been the national sponsor of WRAP since its creation in 1987, though until last year all events were held in local communities and no events were held online. Many key victories against pornography have been won with the encouragement of this effort. By incorporating the power of the Internet into this tradition, more victories are expected as the reach of WRAP extends online to hundreds of thousands across the U.S. and across the globe.

“Last year we reached hundreds of thousands of people in 81 countries with dozens of online events,” said Hawkins.

This year’s WRAP week campaign will involve more than 100 groups nationwide and include presentations by ex-porn stars, a neurosurgeon, filtering companies, scholars, therapists, Internet safety experts, religious leaders and law enforcement.

“We also partnered with top filtering software companies Net Nanny and Covenant Eyes to provide free and discounted subscriptions to software to help protect families,” explained Hawkins.

Most events will be streamed on MIM’s Facebook page of over 115,000 fans: Facebook.com/pornharms. Find a full listing of events on MIM’s website, PornHarms.com/beaware. “We will be streaming films about the links between porn and human trafficking, discussions with past porn performers, help understanding pornography addiction and steps to help keep children safe.”
