As the Christian world continues to grieve the loss of a great general of the faith, the family has announced R.W. Schambach’s memorial service is scheduled for Feb. 3 at 7 p.m. Schambach passed away on Tuesday of heart failure. He was 85.

The service will be held at Rose Heights Church of God in Tyler, Texas. In lieu of flowers, Donna Schambach has requested supporters consider making a financial contribution to the ongoing work of Schambach Ministries. There is a R.W. Schambach Memorial Fund online at Schambach.org.

For more than five decades he boldly declared, “You don’t have any trouble … all you need is faith in God.” Now, the general of the faith has gone home to be with the Lord.

Best known for his classic gospel message of faith and power, Schambach devoted his life to preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ, believing for signs and wonders to confirm the Word. Through his ministry, the lame have walked, the blind saw, the deaf heard and many captives were set free by the power of the Holy Ghost.

“A preacher of righteousness and an amazing man of faith. A revivalist and a true general in God’s army. I’ll never forget the “Lord, stick ’em” testimony and how the guilty criminal turned himself in and the innocent was set free. Lord help us to be all you want us to be!” wrote Albert Okoh on Schambach’s Facebook page.

Schambach preached the Word of God in more than 200 nations, and will be widely remembered for his gospel tent. The evangelist traveled across the United States with tents that held between 2,000 and 8,000 people.

“Brother Shambach was my father of faith … I listened to him on radio in the early days of ministry,” Chuck Kirkpatrick wrote on Schambach’s Facebook page. “Brother Schambach layed [sic] hands on my chest back in the mid-1980s and I was healed of a hiatus hernia! Praise the Lord!”

Schambach received his ministry training at Central Bible Institute in Springfield, Mo. in the mid-1940s after serving in World War II as a navy boiler-maker on a destroyer in the South Pacific and Asia. His mentor was A.A. Allen, a miracle evangelist from the 1940s and 1950s.

“Lord, You have received yet another of Your Generals, home. God bless his family. For he certainly was a great blessing to me and so many others,” Avigal Greer wrote on Schambach’s Facebook page. “He knew the power of Holy Spirit! He knew the power of healing! He knew his God!”
