Monday, Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump received the endorsement of Charles Woods, the father of Tyrone “Rone” Woods, a former Navy SEAL who was among those who died during the siege of Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012.
Rone, as he was known to his friends in the “operator community,” gave his life fighting to protect the Americans at the CIA safe house in Benghazi. His sacrifice saved more than 25 American lives, and was recently the subject of the Hollywood film “13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.”
“I support Donald Trump, and the main reason is national security as well as the economy are the two most important issues that voters are going to have to decide upon next November,” Charles Woods said.
The Trump campaign has made former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s judgment, which arguably led to the tragic deaths in Libya, a major campaign issue. As the Trump camp puts it, she first made the “reckless decision” to invade Libya, which unleashed radical Islamic terror groups that threatened Americans, and then compounded the problem by failing to provide “the necessary security upgrades and reinforcements.”
Afterward, the Trump campaign maintains, Clinton lied to the world about a little-known video in order to cover up the role of radical Islamists in the attacks. And, due to her illegal home-based email server and more than 30,000 deleted emails, more details about her actions will never be known.
Trump graciously accepted Woods’ endorsement:
“Tyrone Woods is an American hero and his father is a tremendous person whom I have great respect for. His support is so important to me. Together we are going to defeat Hillary Clinton in November and make America safe again.”
