In a statement Monday, the FBI said it was investigating a "cyber intrusion" into the Democratic National Committee's email system.
"The FBI is investigating a cyber intrusion involving the DNC and are working to determine the nature and scope of the matter," the statement read. "A compromise of this nature is something we take very seriously, and the FBI will continue to investigate and hold accountable those who pose a threat in cyberspace."
Some might find irony in the situation. It's been just weeks since FBI Director James Comey had to explain to Congress why his agency refused to prosecute former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her use of a private, unsecured email server.
