During Thursday's daily press briefing, Presidential Transition Team communications staffers Sean Spicer and Jason Miller updated the media on the progress of the transition process with just six weeks to go before Inauguration Day.

Spicer shared several numbers, and here's what they look like so far:

  • 12: the number of Cabinet-level positions announced so far
  • 40: the number of "landing team" staff that were to be added Thursday
  • 43: the number of days until President-elect Donald Trump and Vice President-elect Mike Pence are sworn in
  • 85: the number of meetings Trump has held with potential Cabinet appointees and those who have provided input into those decisions
  • 175: the number of "landing team" staff already in place ahead of Inauguration Day
  • 71,000: the approximate number of resumes received by Americans who would like to work for the Trump Administration
  • 200,000: the approximate number of suggestions made by Americans to the Trump Administration

Miller updated the media on the president-elect's schedule for the remainder of the week. Specifically, his schedule Thursday included meetings with:

  • U.S. Navy Adm. (ret.) James Stavridis, currently dean of the Fletcher School and former supreme commander of NATO forces
  • Former Ford Motor Company CEO Alan Mulally
  • U.S. Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho)

Thursday afternoon, Trump was scheduled to have a closed-door meeting to thank first responders from the Ohio State University attack in Columbus, Ohio. In the evening, he was scheduled to hold another USA Thank-You Tour event at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, where his nominee for U.S. Ambassador to China, Gov. Terry Branstad, will also appear.

Friday, the president-elect will meet with U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin (R-W.V.) before heading to Louisiana to assist with get-out-the-vote efforts for State Treasurer John Kennedy, the GOP candidate for U.S. Senate. Kennedy faces a runoff election Saturday in the hopes of adding to the Republican majority in the Senate.

Following a rally in Baton Rouge for Kennedy, Trump will travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to host another USA Thank-You Tour event that evening. On Saturday, as previously reported, he will attend the Army-Navy football game in Baltimore, spending a half each with both sides.

Spicer also noted there will be additional Cabinet announcements later in the day Thursday.
