Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that health insurance premiums, on average, would increase 22 percent on Jan. 1, giving Republican presidential nominee a new issue upon which to attack Hillary Clinton and simultaneously tie her to the failures of President Barack Obama.
Immediately after the report came out, he issued the following statement through his campaign staff:
“I think it’s (the Affordable Care Act, also known as ‘Obamacare’) a disaster, and I’ve been saying it from the time before they even voted for it. I said, ‘This plan can’t work, it’s going to be a disaster.’ It was a big lie, that is how he got it passed. He (Obama) said, ‘Keep you doctor,’ ‘Keep your plan.’ That turned out to be a lie. He said it 28 different times. It’s a terrible plan. It’s a disgrace that we have to talk about it, frankly. It should be repealed and replaced, and if I’m elected, we’re going to repeal it, replace it with something much better, much better and much less expensive.”
His team then put out a press release later in the day that outlined how the key battleground states in the 2016 presidential election were among those being hardest hit by the insurance rate hikes. Click here to read that entire report.
Tuesday night, during a campaign rally in Tallahassee, Florida, Trump returned to his new-found whipping post:
Together, we are going to deliver real change that puts America First.
That begins with immediately repealing and replacing Obamacare. My first day in office, I’m going to ask Congress to put a bill on my desk getting rid of this disastrous law and replacing it with reforms that expand choice, freedom and affordability.
It has just been announced that Americans are going to experience another massive double-digit spike in Obamacare premiums, including more than a 100 percent increase in states like Arizona.
One in five Americans trapped on Obamacare will only have a single insurer to choose from.
Even Bill Clinton admitted Obamacare is “the craziest thing in the world,” where “people wind up with their premiums doubled and their coverage cut in half.”
The Democrat Governor of Minnesota said the “Affordable Care Act is no longer affordable.”
Insurers are leaving. Companies are fleeing. Doctors are quitting. It’s an absolute disaster.
Hillary Clinton wants to double-down on Obamacare and make it even worse. She wants to put the government totally in charge of your healthcare.
Repealing Obamacare, and stopping Hillary’s healthcare takeover, is one of the single most important reasons we must win on Nov. 8.
WikiLeaks has been a big help, providing talking points about Clinton’s desire to revive her “Hillarycare” single-payer healthcare system, similar to what is offered in Canada. According to a speech transcript leaked from the Podesta Emails, Clinton told an audience in June of 2013:
If you look at countries that are comparable, like Switzerland or Germany, for example, they have mixed systems. They don’t have just a single-payer system, but they have very clear controls over budgeting and accountability. If you look at the single-payer systems, like Scandinavia, Canada and elsewhere, they can get costs down because, you know, although their care, according to statistics, overall is as good or better on primary care, in particular, they do impose things like waiting times, you know. It takes longer to get like a hip replacement than it might take here.
According to a report from Politico in 2007, Clinton also advocated for a health coverage plan similar to the one touted by her primary opponent, U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.):
Clinton was asked directly about the relative modesty of her approach in a revealing, unpublicized New York talk in April, in which a board member of the Community Service Society of New York, Jonathan Greenberg, asked her why she ‘continue[s] to see the solution’ as private insurance, rather than a single-payer national system. ‘Well, I didn’t say that,’ Clinton responded, to the audience’s apparent surprise. But she added that ‘for the short term, it’ll probably have to build on the employer-based system, but with a lot of changes in how it operates and what the insurance companies are expected to do.’ She also proposed providing ‘options to people to buy into government health care.’ A far broader program known as ‘Medicare for All,’ she said, ‘would be something to be considered’ if Democrats can win at least 55 seats in the Senate.
Late Tuesday night, Trump unleashed on Obamacare, President Obama and Hillary Clinton once again:
Today’s admission by the Obama administration that Obamacare is an unaffordable disaster should come as a surprise to no one, and this only reaffirms the American public’s belief that the entire program was one big lie.
Not only are they now willing to admit that health insurance premiums under ObamaCare are going to skyrocket by 25 percent, they still aren’t telling us the truth!
Rates are going to go up much higher, maybe as high as 80 percent or even 100 percent in some places due to the lack of competition.
Here’s the reality—Americans were lied to when we were told we could keep our doctor, we were lied to when we were told we could keep our health plan, and we were lied to when were told this would lower health care costs.
And to make matters worse, the architects of Obamacare, Jonathan Gruber and Hillary Clinton, knew they were telling us lies, because they’re trying to move us toward a single-payer system where the healthy pay for the sick. This, my friends, is the rigged system.
With politicians lying, shoving bad deals down our throat, making us take whatever they want us to take; while we’re the ones who lose our doctor, who lose our insurance, who see as we did today that our premiums are going to go way up—and we’re not going to take it anymore.
This is why we have to drain the swamp and repeal and replace Obamacare immediately, and I’m the only candidate running for President who will do it.
It’s a change election, but Crooked Hillary Clinton is never going to change. Never.
So the only way we’re going to make her change, is by voting her out of Washington forever.
