No One Hurt: Pence Campaign Plane Slides Off Runway

Thursday afternoon, Republican vice presidential nominee Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, waiting out a "ground stop" at LaGuardia Airport in New York City, was tossing a football with staffers on the tarmac at an airport in Iowa.

Three hours later, it was an entirely different story. The chartered 737 he had been using—with its notoriously hard landings—had just slid off the runway after landing at LaGuardia.

Politico got the reaction of embedded press members who were on the plane at the time. It also reported on their observations of Pence:

Pence greeted the emergency workers affably, as he always does.

"Pence was actually chatting up the first responders, he was really calm, freaking unflappable the entire time," one passenger said.

Afterward, Pence tweeted:

So thankful everyone on our plane is safe. Grateful for our first responders & the concern & prayers of so many. Back on the trail tomorrow!

Indeed, he was back on the trail Friday morning. As of this writing, he had already appeared on CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, and FOX News Channel. A new plane was called into service, and Pence was expected to appear at his scheduled events in Pennsylvania and North Carolina.

The Lord is definitely looking out for Pence on the campaign trail. Please continue to keep him in your prayers.
