Franklin Graham: No Matter What Hillary Clinton Says, I Am Not 'Deplorable'

Franklin Graham aligned himself with Donald Trump supporters when he took a stand against Hillary Clinton.

In a speech last week, the Democratic nominee said, "You know, to just be grossly generalistic, you could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the 'basket of deplorables.' Right? The racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic—you name it."

But Graham, who has never officially endorsed the Republican party, took offense to her statement.

He told his Facebook followers

But I wonder if she, or even you, have thought about our position before Almighty God. All sin is deplorable to Him. The Bible tells us that we have all sinned and the wages of sin is death. Sin has infected the entire human race. It's a disease of the human soul. But "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life" (John 3:16). God is holy and cannot tolerate sin. So much so that when Jesus carried our sins to the cross, God had to turn His back and could not even look on Him. Jesus died for our sins, took our sins to the grave, and rose again triumphantly to life on the third day. If we confess our sins, repent, and believe on Him as our Savior, our deplorable sins are washed away and we can have a right standing before God. I'm thankful that because of His forgiveness and mercy, I'm not "a deplorable" to God, even though I might be in the eyes of Hillary Clinton. What about you?

Many commenters embraced Graham's heaven perspective of forgiveness.

"I'd rather be considered deplorable in the eyes of the world or the (Hillarys) of the world, than compromise the truth of God for a lie. I'd rather stand for (God's) principles and walk in His ways than be considered a progressive. God's ways are the same yesterday today and forever!" posted one user.

Another wrote: "Funny because most everything she mentioned as deplorable is what God calls sin. What's right with this world is wrong in God's eyes. What's right in God's eyes is considered wrong in the world's eyes. When we agree with God we are called judgmental and bigoted. I'd much rather be called names by the world and stand firmly with God than be accepted by this world and disappoint my Savior."
