Sue Ten Eyck: For Zion’s Sake

The Wailing Wall

As leaders with a passion to be a part of God’s kingdom coming here on earth as it is in heaven, it is vital that we see the kingdom of God that is within us (Luke 17:21) coming as well. This happens as we come into His presence.

It’s one of the things I love about the tabernacle of David; that place where we come into His presence in worship and intercession; the flowing of harp and bowl (Rev. 5:8).

We must become a house of prayer if we desire to see the house of prayer raised up in our generation—His kingdom coming on the earth and His kingdom coming in us.

Daily, we can and must come into that place of His presence. In worship, we are able to see Him more and more as He really is. We turn our hearts to hear His Word.

We bow down and receive mercy, grace, power and instruction. We can’t help but then pray and call out those things that He has just shown us, those things that are filled with His purpose and pleasure.

We are overflowing with faith and His greater truths for all that we are praying. We can’t help but then worship as we, too, are filled with His purpose and pleasure. Oh to know Him more. But as His church there is a corporate element for us in the tabernacle of David as well, especially as leaders and especially in the day in which we are living.

What day is that? It is “that day” that God references in Amos 9:11—the day when Israel is once again restored in her land. That is the time of the restoration of David’s tabernacle, and that day is this day. It’s not simply a metaphor. It is biblical prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes.

It seems impossible to me that we can come into His presence in worship and intercession and not hear His heart as it relates to the land and people of Israel. As we draw near to Him, this God whose very name is Jealous, reminds us that His heart is jealous for Zion (Zech. 8:1). In the midst of the pressing needs of the people whom we shepherd, we must remember how important Israel is to the One we serve.

As we seek to know what we are to do, He reminds us that He has appointed us as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem. As we ask Him and then listen to hear what we should pray, He instructs us to give Him no rest until He establishes Jerusalem and makes her a praise on the earth (Is. 62:6-7). This place—the place of prayer—is where we are called to dwell. And it has everything to do with Israel.

There are so many ways to be a part of what God is doing regarding Israel. Through Eagles’ Wings, you can participate and learn in deeper ways how to pray for the peace of Jerusalem. You can go with us to Israel and experience firsthand both the natural and spiritual elements of the Holy Land and the people there.

You can help send college students to Israel who will return to their campuses as ambassadors for God’s purposes. There are many ways to grow and get your churches involved.

How incredibly blessed we are to be the people of God, invited and even appointed to be part of the continual unfolding of His will and the coming of His kingdom.

In the place of His presence, as He gives us the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know Him more, may we come to understand the great and unsearchable things He has in store for Israel and the church. May we come to understand and then fulfill the role we have been given in the restoration of all things. May His kingdom come and His will be done.
