Why Mitt Romney's 'Liberation' Doesn't Actually Mean Trump Will Be Impeached

On Oct. 20, 2019, The Atlantic ran an article by McKay Coppins with the halting title "The Liberation of Mitt Romney." "The newly rebellious senator has become an outspoken dissident in Trump's Republican Party," Coppins asserted, "just in time for the president's impeachment trial."

We'll go out on a limb and predict that there will be no impeachment trial, because Nancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff's perfidious political subterfuge is all about attempting to stir up the radical ultras of the Democratic base that need hatred and spite to get through the day. Explicitly: Antifa, Women's March on Washington, MoveOn.org, Center for Reproductive Rights, Human Rights Campaign, ACLU, Planned Parenthood and so forth.

Reportedly and intriguingly, George Soros contributed $246 million between 2010 and 2014 to these grim and forbidding organizations.

McKay Coppins' Romney piece might warrant an honorable mention in the Pulitzer Prize categories Editorial Cartooning or Fiction. However, both his past work at BuzzFeed and as a regular contributor to CNN and MSNBC, as well as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints [the same as Romney] should have required the disclaimer "personal opinion."

You may recall that Romney was the decade-long champion of the Republican "Big Tent" configuration. All that sounded neat and nifty, until Romney's high-tech lynching of Missouri's Todd Akin in 2012.

Due to Akin's unforced error in connection to abortion, Romney took it upon himself to declare Akin unfit for the Grand Old Party "big tent." While Akin misspoke, Romney's glaring differences with Christians on abortion, traditional marriage, socialized health care and so on remained unspoken.

Romney's public clobbering of Akin not only cost Republicans the Missouri Senate seat but also directly aided liberal Democrat Harry Reid in maintaining his controlling position as the Senate Majority Leader in 2012. Romney's pontifical pretension was exposed when it became apparent that establishment-only Republicans, like Romney himself, hold the levers of power in the big tent. Todd Akin's long-standing, purely conservative social and fiscal voting record was deemed irrelevant, actually an impediment, to Romney's chameleon approach in politics of being all things to all people.

Unfortunately for Romney, grassroots, precinct-level evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians recognized the ploy—Romney having no interest in social issues, but only in power—and stayed home on Election Day 2012. With Obama Democrats cheering, Romney had managed to alienate and stifle the largest block of Republican voters for the November 2012 presidential election.

Four years later, in 2016, it got even more interesting. Two days after Trump had won 7 of the 11 states on Super Tuesday, "Romney delivered a scorching indictment of Donald Trump on Thursday, calling him a phony, a fraud, a misogynist and a bully who threatens America's future," reports NBC News. From that day onward, Romney called on voters to vote for anyone but Trump, in point of fact supporting Hillary Clinton for president.

Let's have a closer look at this in order to make a determination of Senator Romney's discernment. A 2016 Hillary Clinton presidency would have been notorious in American history for her rebellion against God and against restoring a biblically based culture. By stacking the U.S. Supreme Court and the 13 Courts of Appeals (the feeder system to cases before the U.S. Supreme Court) with liberal leftist progressives, reflecting her own points of view, idolization and glorification of abortion, same-sex intercourse and marriage, euthanasia, omnipotent and omnipresent government, transgender bathrooms and coercive redistribution of wealth would be making headway, tearing apart America's warp and woof.

According to Jewish Hebrew scholar Michael V. Fox, our children would have lost: 1) their First Amendment rights and religious liberty, 2) their Second Amendment rights to "keep and bear Arms," and 3) the United States would have entered into a period of "widespread, systemic violations of the law, which brings on lawlessness as its natural consequence and its fitting punishment, and with lawlessness comes a multiplicity of rulers and factions."

Let there be no doubt about the reason Republicans have lost the popular vote in six of the last seven presidential elections, including Romney's in 2012. Since 1988, Republican nominees have largely run as conservatives, saying one thing in order to be elected, but then doing the opposite. It's worth noting that Reagan won reelection in 1984, winning 49 states. He ran on principles, imperfect as he no doubt was.

A democratic republic, where ultimate authority and power derives from its citizens, remains viable solely as long as people can, on the whole, rely on elected officials to keep their word. Which brings us to evangelicals and Donald Trump, who is said to be far from perfect. And yet, he is the first president since Ronald Reagan to do his utmost to keep his campaign promises; one of the reasons why evangelicals across America are still with him.

Why is this relevant?

Liberal mega-donors (such as George Soros and Michael Bloomberg, among others) have built more than 90 different NGO operations over the last 20 years that cemented political victories in every imaginable way. NGOs, or non-governmental organizations, are nonprofit, citizen-based groups that function independently of the U.S. government, are active in humanitarian areas, but can also serve as lobby groups. They:

—influence college curricula and indoctrination on campuses.

—provide grants to news media designed to tilt coverage leftward (progressives).

—recruit candidates.

—undertake 24/7 political opposition research against conservatives.

—provide training to embed progressives in key agencies like EPA, the Department of Justice and the State Department.

—affect election of state attorneys and general offices.

—fund academic research institutions on climate change.

—impact media monitoring and shaming.

—induce social censorship.

—take part in think tanks.

—yield YouTube "influencers."

In short, we are talking about the deep state, or George Soros, Fusion GPS' dirty trick operation, hijacking of the FBI and CIA, two decades in the making with billions of dollars from progressive, liberal megadonor investments (targeted toward secularizing the culture). And on top of that, planting progressive liberal staffers in key government agencies to make mischief.

What to do?

American Founder Samuel Adams (1722–1803), a devout Christian, offers counsel and remedy for what lies ahead over the next 25 years for evangelical and pro-life Catholic Christians. "If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands that feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Grace be to God that Gideons and Rahabs, just in time, are beginning to stand.
