Renouncing President Trump’s campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” candidates for the Democratic nomination are lining up weekly. Extremism is beyond the pale as sympathetic actress, Alyssa Milano, said, “The red MAGA hat is the new white hood!”
Kamala Harris, pro-abortion/LGBTQ leftist-leaning Californian with two years of Senate experience, declared we must eradicate private health care and that “the future of our country depends on you and millions of others lifting our voices to fight for our American values.” You may recall her gaining notoriety for comparing I.C.E. security officers to the KKK; discrediting a judicial nominee because of his involvement in the Catholic Knights of Columbus; as well as her attack on Kavanaugh in his Supreme Court hearing as she dismissed “due process” before a watching nation.
When Senator Harris and other candidates float the cause of standing for “America’s values,” what do they mean? What specifically are our country’s values that they are so passionate about recapturing as their party pushes taking the lives of babies both before and after birth, along with striking “So help me God” from the oath of those who testify?
In a recent commentary I outlined the 21 issues that the Democratic Party stands for today. Read the article to familiarize yourself with the positions that Harris and other candidates espouse. Bottom line: They are scheming to rewrite America’s story by replacing our DNA, America’s foundational values, with “progressive” ones to “fundamentally transform” our country to the failed models of socialist nations of the present and past. We must awaken to our adversary’s plan and this frontal assault fostering our present moral decline.
Importance of Historical Accuracy
God tells us, “Stand in the ways and see, and ask for the old paths where the good way is and walk in it, and you shall find rest for your souls” (Jer. 6:16b).
It is incumbent upon us to look back over the first 200-plus years of our nation’s history and examine the true story of the values characterizing our way of life. Failure to do this will result in millions being misled down wrong paths that will not bring rest to our souls but further decline in America.
Radical Russian revolutionary Vladimir Lenin made the classic statement: “If you can separate people from their history, they are easily persuaded.” Amidst the political rhetoric escalating, it is imperative to remain vigilant and not ignorant of our Judeo-Christian heritage.
I just watched an episode of The Andy Griffith Show that featured Opie’s teacher, Miss Crump; Floyd the barber; Goober the mechanic; busybody Clara and a Native American caught up in a confusing situation over the real history of the “Battle of Mayberry.” Each character exalted the role of his ancestor’s heroism as even Sheriff Andy tried to influence Opie in a contest to win a front-page article in The Mayberry Times.
Tempers flared and relationships fizzled until finally Andy took his son to the Raleigh library to uncover the truth from newspapers of that era. Everyone’s selfish motivations were exposed as they learned a lesson about integrity and the importance of historical accuracy. Opie wrote the prize-winning front-page article and was honored with a commendation from the governor of the state!
Their Vision Isn’t America’s Vision
The Democratic Party’s goal of a secularist America undergirding socialist ideology is foreign to that of our Founding Fathers and patriots since 1607.
- When Robert Hunt landed at Jamestown, he prayed, “We do hereby dedicate this land and ourselves, to reach the people within the shores with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and to raise up godly generations after us, and with these generations take the kingdom of God to all the earth.”
- The Pilgrims who landed a short time thereafter stated in the Mayflower Compact the reason for their coming to America: “For the glory of God and the advancement of the Christian faith.”
- The constitutions of all the original 13 colonies acknowledged God and mandated scriptural education in the public schools. The one textbook used by nearly every public school student was the McGuffey Reader, which said, “The Scriptures are especially designed to make us wise unto salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.”
Our challenge is to recover the authentic, not counterfeit, core values and convictions upon which America was founded. We must support competent leaders of character who know America’s vision while equipping our children and church members to discern deceptive ideas promoted by ambitious politicians, self-centered celebrities and corrupt media and academic elites.
Contrary to those trying to airbrush Christianity from our culture, remember our Declaration of Independence was also based on God’s principles, not guesswork. It mentions God four times:
- “Our Creator.”
- “Nature’s God.”
- “Supreme Judge of the world.”
- “Our Divine Protector in whom we rely.”
Our Founding Fathers, honoring a Judeo-Christian belief system, upheld the Hebrew and Christian Bible as the source of wisdom for life, laws and legislation. They used their collective wisdom to draft documents from a biblical worldview that have withstood the test of time.
Hijacking Our Heritage
Imagine this:
Sitting among classmates in “Anytown” USA, a new teacher stands before your son or daughter’s public-school class communicating insights regarding government.
“I appreciate the opportunity to tell you truths that we know are self-evident. Our God and our Creator whom we know is the Supreme Judge of the world and also honored as our Divine Protector on whom we rely, is the foundation for three rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
Kaboom! A shock wave ripples through the air as three armed security guards burst open the classroom door and lunge at the instructor, slamming him upside the wall, handcuffing him mercilessly while slapping a piece of duct tape over his mouth.
A collective shriek erupts as students bolt from their seats amidst the shocking intervention.
What’s happening? Was a child molester finally apprehended … a dangerous criminal … an escapee finally tracked down by law enforcement? Will this be on America’s Most Wanted?
Shockingly we learn the “crime” this public schoolteacher committed was referencing “God” in the public classroom, where America’s secular elite decided that He can go longer be mentioned.
As charismatic, well-funded politicians line up to persuade the masses to vote for them to “Restore America’s Values,” unless they are aligned with our history as a God-centered, scripturally-based people, reject them! We must recognize our dangerous trajectory and cry out to God for a spiritual awakening to get us back on track.
The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by false and designing men.” —Samuel Adams, American statesman
Here’s the deal: Patrick Henry boldly declared, “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians, not on other religions but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.” It is these values Jesus and Scripture put forth, which our forefathers embraced, that will guide us on a straight and narrow path leading us to a blessed life and nation we must preserve.
