Seeing in the spirit realm assists us in divine prayer strategies. When we can see what is happening in the angelic, demonic or spiritual warfare, we will know how to pray more effectively.
But how do we open the gateways to seeing? How do we increase our discernment to see to be effective in warfare tactics and manifesting prophecies?
Some people are born seers. They have stories of seeing as a child and see frequently. Those testimonies can be discouraging to the average person who cannot see. What do you do and how do you increase in the spirit realm if you weren’t born a seer?
Have you ever considered practicing to see in the spirit? There is general discernment and the gift of discernment. General discernment can be exercised by going to the mall and people watching.
The gift of discernment comes instantly from the Spirit of the Lord. As we increase and practice our general discernment, it can make us more sensitive to the gift of discernment. I believe more people have the gift of discernment than realize. But they don’t know how to identify it.
It is the same with our seer ability. It can be instant from the Spirit, but some of us may need to practice and increase our spiritual senses to have it come forth. I encourage people if you want to see in the spirit to look up into the spiritual atmosphere, look above buildings, look in the corners of rooms where demonic activity is usually lurking. Focus on banks and government buildings when you are going through town and look up above them and see if the Lord will show you in the Spirit what is there.
Prayer is an instrumental part of seeing in the spirit. We can’t just go around and ask the Lord, “Show me this and show me that.” It is out of a personal walk and place of intimacy with the Lord that He will open our eyes.
Self-evaluation is also essential. Why do you want to see? I’ve had people say, “I want to see demons.” I respond, “Why? What are you going to do with what you see?” What are you going to do when you see a demon on a building or a person in church or at the mall? You can’t go up to everyone you meet and say, “Excuse me, there is a demon on you. Can I cast it off?” You have to make sure you can handle what you see and can discern how to release what you see. Are the results going to lead to action or glorify the Lord?
We can increase our ability to see in the spiritual realm by spending time with the Lord. As we are in the secret place, we will build our spiritual knowledge and understanding. Allowing the Holy Spirit to teach and instruct us on the things of the Spirit will open our eyes to the spirit realm both good and evil.
When desiring to see in the spiritual realm, we should also be cautious. The enemy can also have spiritual entities appear before us. Not everything seen is from God. Therefore, testing, discerning and preparing our hearts are instrumental in making sure we are seeing purely and with good intentions.
Change your expectations. Believe God will show you what He wants you to see. It is just like the prophetic. God gives you a prophetic word for someone and shows you what He wants you to see for them. It is no different He can show you what is happening in the spiritual realm. Just as you had to believe He would give you a prophetic word for another person, you have to believe He will open your eyes to see.
