Why I Talked About the Spiritual Warfare Surrounding Trump on ‘Fox & Friends’

I’ve been doing plenty of interviews lately for my new book, God, Trump, and the 2020 Election, which just released this week. Probably the highlight of my media tour was being on Fox News yesterday, when Steve Doocy interviewed me on Fox & Friends.

I’ve done lots of media in my career, but this was a special interview. I want to thank Fox & Friends for having me on. Right after I appeared on the show, my book was bumped to the No. 330 spot on Amazon’s bestseller list. It’s now settled at around No. 600, which is still very good. You can buy your own copy at godtrump2020.com.

I’m also grateful that Fox was able to fit me in on a busy news day—the very day the articles of impeachment were sent to the Senate and the trial began.

But it was also the day President Donald Trump signed an executive order protecting prayer in public schools, which is what we discussed on Fox. As I told Doocy, we need to look at the issues surrounding Trump from a spiritual perspective.

What’s going on in our nation is nothing short of spiritual warfare, especially when you look at everything happening with the impeachment. There will be many twists and turns in the months ahead. And because of that, Christians need to be praying.

I felt the content of my interview on Fox & Friends—short as it was—was valuable for Christians to hear. That’s why I want to share it with you today on my podcast as well as here in this article.

You can read the transcript of our interview below:

Doocy: President Trump is set to announce guidance on constitutional prayer in public schools later today. Here to weigh in is Stephen Strang, author of a brand new book; it’s called God, Trump, and the 2020 Election. Stephen, good morning to you.

Me: Good morning.

Doocy: Why is it important that children are allowed to pray in school—maybe not out loud, but just pray?

Me: You know, the joke is that, as long as there are exams, there will be prayer in school. But it’s our constitutional right. We have freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and there’s been a hostile view in our culture of religion and evangelical Christians have felt this. Donald Trump is doing some things to reverse that, and we appreciate it.

Doocy: Why’d you write the book?

Me: Because everything about Donald Trump is from a political or cultural point of view. I write about the spiritual point of view. I’m a Christian journalist. I believe there’s a spiritual dimension to everything, and I think that the hatred against Donald Trump can only be explained in spiritual terms. Christians call it spiritual warfare.

Doocy: You talk extensively about why you feel Donald Trump is the right man at the right time for evangelicals.

Me: The nation is going in a direction and finally people said, ‘Enough is enough.’ And it’s like one of the Christian leaders I quoted said, ‘We were praying that God would raise somebody up, but we just didn’t have anybody in mind.’ And this very unlikely person has become a champion of religious liberty, religious rights. He’s promised to have our back, and he has.

Doocy: What do you mean, ‘this very unlikely person’?

Me: Well, who would have thought a New York billionaire who is a TV celebrity would become a champion of religious rights, or become president of the United States? But I think he’s been a great leader, he’s a strong leader. Look how trade deals are going, even today. Look how the economy’s going. I think he’s been a great leader, but he doesn’t get very much credit for it.

Doocy: Real quickly, what about evangelicals in November of this year, are they going to turn out for him?

Me: Absolutely. As long as they’re not complacent and stay home. I think the evangelical percentage is even going to go up.

Doocy: Check out the brand new book—it is called God, Trump, and the 2020 Election. Stephen Strang, thank you very much.

Me: Thank you.

I hope you enjoyed that interview as much as I did. If you appreciate what Trump is doing to protect our religious liberty, share this article with a friend and listen to my podcast today!
