Editor's Note: Friday is the annual March for Life. As we cry out for the end of abortion, prayerfully consider how the Lord can use your testimony to bring healing, restoration and justice for families devastated by the death of an unborn child.

This Friday, January 19th is the March for Life. It is an important day for all believers to take their position and fight for the rights of the unborn. It is also a time to pray that Bill #4712: Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, passes successfully, a bill which protects the born-alive abortion survivors. If you are a believer, you have a role to play and a job to do.

Believers, here is your call to action:

1. Acknowledge that we are in a spiritual battle.

Spiritual warfare is real, and the age-old plan of the devil has not changed: to kill the destiny, the dreams, the future and the legacy of the next generation, and all for the sake of a dollar, under the guise of the right to choose.

But you have eyes and heart only for your dishonest gain, for shedding innocent blood and for practicing oppression and violence (Jer. 22:17).

The fact is, the professed "right" to abort has created a billion-dollar industry, which profits businesses, doctors, nurses and workers of that industry, but has resulted in the murder of an estimated 58 million babies, leaves the woman broken in spirit, depressed and sometimes suicidal, not to mention the long-term effects on men, who have abdicated their position as fathers. Many carry the pain of their decision for decades, and even to the grave.

What is the real battle? Homage. The battle of pro-life vs. pro-choice is not a battle concerning personal freedoms. No, the real battle is homage, and our nation is paying the price. It is homage to the god of mammon, the god of destruction and the god of Molech.

Child sacrifice is about homage not about rights, and this age-old issue has not changed. If it were a question of rights, what consideration is there for the rights of the unborn? Just as in the days of Israel's rebellion against God, child sacrifice was a choice made to receive something in exchange for the life of a child. Today, abortion offers the false promise that it will bring about an easier life, a life without responsibility, a life without complications or a life free of a potential burden.

"Look, children are a gift of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is a reward" (Ps. 127:3).

2. Acknowledge that we, as believers, are to hate what God hates.

If God hates the shedding of innocent blood, then every believer must also hate the shedding of innocent blood. We have an obligation to be a voice for God's Word. We have an obligation to stand up for what we know is right. We have an obligation to be light in the midst of darkness.

These six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to him: a proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked imaginations, feet that are swift in running to mischief, a false witness who speaks lies, and he who sows discord among brethren (Prov. 6:16-19).

3. Acknowledge that God cares about innocent blood.

What is innocent blood? One prime example of innocent blood is a baby in the womb of a mother. The womb is a place for nutrients, protection, comfort, peace and connectedness to another human being. When abortion takes place, innocent blood is shed. God cares about innocent blood and the guilt of that blood is on our nation.

"Then innocent blood will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you for an inheritance, and blood guiltiness be on you." (Deut. 19:10).

We have a generation of youth and young adults who have grown up with the acceptance of abortion as normal, instead of as an act of murder. Families have been greatly impacted. There has been a dramatic increase in broken homes, fatherless children, and violence, partly because of the obvious: the devaluation of human life. Abortion, the killing of a baby in the womb, strips away the dignity of the woman. It often strips away the rights of fatherhood. It destroys the continuation of the legacy of two individuals and brings to an end the hope of life.

4. Acknowledge that God hears the cries of the unborn.

All blood has a voice, and God hears it. He hears the cries of the unborn. He cares that they are being destroyed in a country whose credo still professes trust in a sovereign God. God does not ignore their cries.

"And then He said, 'What have you done? The voice of your brother's blood is crying out to Me from the ground'" (Gen. 4:10).

5. Acknowledge that nations are impacted when they refuse to obey God's commands.

What happens to a nation when its destroys its own future? What are the consequences on a nation for ignoring the spilling of innocent blood? What does God do when a nation walks away from His commands?

Do not be surprised if we see a rise in our nation of more and more vicious attacks by the hand of the enemy. God will lift His hand of protection from a rebellious nation. It is a spiritual principle that is written.

"If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured with the sword; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it" (Isa. 1:19-20).

  • 6. Acknowledge that you must be careful when deciding which side you stand on.

God does care about your opinion, believe it or not. He cares where you stand on issues. He cares about what you use as your measure of morality: society's opinion or His written Word.

"He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the just, both of them are abomination to the Lord" (Prov. 17:15).

7. Acknowledge that it's not too late to turn our nation around.

"At one moment I may speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it. If that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to do to it" (Jer. 18:7-8).
