Pro-Choice Movement Uses Sex to Enlist Help From Men

Pro-choice has a new voice: “Bro-Choice,” a recent national effort establishing chapters on college campuses to enlist men in the pro-choice movement. According to the recruiting pitch, pro-choice is no longer a single-gender issue. Men’s sexual freedoms are also being threatened by abortion-restricting legislation and women’s health laws. Young men on campuses across the country are taking the Bro-Choice pledge to become a member of the new pro-choice fraternity.

“For those of us guys who like girls—you know, like them like them—and want to have relationships with them, that may last anywhere from a few minutes to many years, we need to think about how this bill (Texas HB 2), by curtailing the bodily autonomy and sexual freedom of women, hurts us, too,” writes Ben Sherman in his article for the Burnt Orange Report, Austin, Texas, voicing the newest campaign rhetoric of the pro-choice movement and reproductive justice (RJ). “We need to stand with women in their fight to control their own bodies.”

According to Bro-Choice thinking, the gratification of men’s sex lives is at stake. “Can you think of anything that kills the vibe faster than a woman fearing a back-alley abortion?” Ben asks his fraternity bros. “Making abortion essentially inaccessible in Texas will add an anxiety to sex that will drastically undercut its joys. And don’t be surprised if casual sex outside of relationships becomes far more difficult to come by.”

Now, if you are thinking Sherman is just another hormone-driven, male-chauvinist pig whose remarks will make him the boar on the spit at the next National Organization for Women banquet—not so fast. These are the very metrosexual frat-cats being recruited by RJ groups like Choice USA, formed 15 years ago by feminist Gloria Steinem. Choice USA’s goal is to “build a youth centered pro-choice agenda and mobilize communities for reproductive justice.”

Don’t you love it how the left redefines abortion as reproductive justice? It is to these raging male hormones that pro-choice feminist organizations like Choice USA are catering to further abortion rights for women.

“I’ve got a couple of rules for you if you want to get to a woman’s heart,” suggests Sarah Silverman of Saturday Night Live fame, in her satirical Bro-Choice public service announcement—what part is service to the public I haven’t quite figured out, but she insists that it isn’t through a “mandatory vaginal sonogram.” She also equates a woman’s right to have an abortion with that of freedom to buy condoms—“no one’s trying to outlaw condoms, are they?”

I miss the logic here, because there is none, but liberals don’t respond to logic—truth or facts, for that matter—only emotions. So that’s why pro-choice women have now resorted to using sex, one of the strongest emotion-inducing issues, especially in college-age males, as a recruiting tool to get young men on campus to join their now-inclusive cause. I believe this tactic is more appropriately called prostitution. Can the pro-choice movement go any lower in denigrating women to the level of prostitutes in aborting the civil rights of the preborn?

The former SNL comedienne further suggests that men don’t understand “lady parts,” and therefore they should not be writing laws that control them. Is that why the majority of gynecologists are men—they don’t understand “lady parts”?

Bro-Choice explains my observations made at the Capitol in Austin recently—that there were unusually large numbers of young men protesting the omnibus pro-life House Bill 2 who were extremely well-organized in distributing pro-choice literature.

Choice USA has a University of Texas, Austin (UTA), chapter, a very active chapter which recruits the Bro-Choice voice. But it also makes sense from where the vile and vulgar slogans on posterboards originated that were being held up in the Capitol rotunda by scores of young coeds wearing orange T-shirts.

“Keep your rosaries out of my ovaries” was just one of the many sacrilegious slogans, most of which were too explicit for print. But one poster held up by a young girl, about 10 or 11 years of age and standing next to her mother—I won’t print the quote—bordered on child abuse, in my opinion. These are not just cardboard protest posters—they are spiritual signs revealing the nefarious nature behind those supporting the radical abortion agenda.

From catheter-packing senators in tennis shoes bloviating in a late-night filibuster, to jars of urine and feces, tampons, bricks and various other confiscated items destined to be thrown from the Senate gallery onto pro-life legislators below, to the now viral “Hail, Satan” mantra video—opponents of protection for the pre-born have revealed their true colors. These young people are rapidly becoming the cultural norm, especially on campus. They are the grandchildren of the ’60s free-love, free-speech revolution radicals. They are morally bankrupt, spiritually lost and desperately in need of a Savior.

As an eyewitness to much of the antics that took place in the Texas Capitol by the pro-choice activists, I watched from my front-row gallery seat overlooking the speaker’s podium and the House floor, as white coat hangers were passed among the mostly minority, Democratic women opponents, while Houston’s Rep. Sefronia Thompson ranted that the bill would send women back to the back-alley clinics where knitting needles—she waved one overhead and demonstrated the procedure—“would be repeatedly stabbed in the woman’s uterus until that child is dead. … Is that what you want?”

Did you hear what you said, Rep. Thompson? In a moment of partisan hysteria, you admitted that abortion was the murder of a “child,” regardless if it is perpetrated upon the victim in a dark alley or in a well-lit, sterilized Planned Parenthood-funded clinic. You stated it correctly for the record, Ms. Thompson: It’s a child, not a choice.

Plus, Rep. Thompson, are you plainly ignorant of or just callously blind to the fact that over 70 percent of deaths in the black community nationally are attributed to abortions? That’s Margaret Sanger Malthusian eugenics you are standing up for—genocide of your own African-American community. Is that any way to represent the African-American citizens of Houston, Ms. Thompson? Malcolm X would say that you are being played as a “chump” by the Democratic Party.

In the Capitol rotunda stairwell, I asked three young African-American UTA coeds, in their orange Ts, if they knew who Margaret Sanger was. They were clueless; not an idea. When I tried to inform them as to who she was and how abortion rates where disproportionately higher among black Americans, they turned their heads and casually walked away. It’s not about genocide or infanticide to this generation—it’s all about the sex!

In his YouTube video “Support Abortion for Casual Sex,” conservative pundit Caleb Bonham asked several female students at the University of Colorado-Boulder if they would consider having casual sex with someone who is pro-life. The majority answered, “No way!” Bonham told Campus Reform that he made the video to see if students would “object to the notion that men should support abortion because it allows for care-free casual sex.”

“Essentially, my video reveals a rarely discussed but prevalent self-centered mindset among the college aged pro-choice crowd,” Bonham told Campus Reform, “one that views abortion as a means to ensure materialistic, responsibility-free sex.”

Bonham describes the Bro-Choice philosophy this way: “A bro-choice is where I am pro-choice because I am a man, and if women don’t have access to abortion on demand then I won’t get laid as often.”

Isn’t it time for a Pro-Voice to speak for those who have no choice? C’mon, bro, be a real man—speak up for life!
