Why Roaring Like a Lion Hurts You

Beware of roaring lions.

The apostle Paul offered great advice to leaders throughout much of his inspired writing.

Today, I invite you to listen to this podcast about the roar of a lion. Leaders who roar a lot, often build resentment and lose influence.

Paul suggests in Philippians 4:5 to “Let everyone come to know your gentleness. The Lord is at hand.”

After all, gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit.

Today’s Scripture

“For thus the Lord has spoken to me: Like the lion, and the young lion, roars over his prey, against which a multitude of shepherds is called out against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor disturbed at their noise, so shall the Lord of Hosts come down to fight for Mount Zion, and for its hill” (Is. 31:4).

Platform Tip No. 77

It’s taken me a few years to understand why platforms work for some leaders and not for others.

First, understand that a platform strategy does work. It works better than any push-a-message tactic. Our audiences pull the message when they want it.

The books on my shelf are loaded with great content. I pull the book off the shelf when I need it.

The problem with platforms is the work. Many people WANT a platform but simply won’t work to build it.

In his book Think Better, Tim Hurson said:

“We tend to overestimate what we can do in the short term and underestimate what we can do in the long term.”
