Kanye West’s Former Brother-in-Law Lamar Odom: ‘I Got Saved This Weekend’

Former NBA star Lamar Odom announced last week that he got saved and is now “walking with the Lord.”

Six days ago, Odom announced he gave his life to Jesus at The Word Church in Warrensville Heights, Ohio, that weekend. Odom, who is Khloe Kardashian’s ex-husband and Kanye West’s former brother-in-law, took to Instagram to announce his exciting news:

“Nowadays I’m doing the best I can in walking with the Lord. Thanks to Pastor Vernon @drravernon , I got saved at @thewordchurch this weekend. I had to show Jesus my appreciation for keeping me alive!”

In his post, Odom references his overdose in 2015, which almost killed him and left him in a coma for four days, according to People. Odom told People earlier this year that he was now drug-free but still suffers from horrible memory loss.

His photos show his girlfriend, Sabrina Parr, standing by his side, smiling and laying hands on him to pray. Parr expressed her support of her boyfriend’s decision in her comment on his post: “Nothing better than a man of God! Keep pushing through life, baby!! God willing I’ll be right here by your side!!!!”

Odom’s book Darkness to Light, which came out earlier this year, highlights his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction. He tells CNN that God is the one who helped him get through the darkest period of his life.

“The strength in God, the strength in my family for never giving up on me, that’s who I live for now,” he said. “I lived selfishly for a long time. I’ll be an addict for as long as I live. When you’re sober, you’re present. And when you’re present, you kind of understand the consequences and repercussions of what you do, and therefore I have no will to do any drug that isn’t marijuana. I understand the consequences and repercussions of getting high.”
